Default Nitto 555 or Nexen N3000?

These are the tires I'm going to wrap my new set of wheels with. The company I am ordering the wheels from recommended the Nexens. Before I take the plunge, can anyone running these give me any experience with any of these? I've read the wet traction isn't that good on the Nitto 555. Can anyone confirm or deny? Pros and cons of these tires?

Nitto 555 are excellent street tires. lets begin with the pro: good tread rating at 300 A, and temp A, and is a W rated tire. The tires are affordable depending on the size. The con is that there are comparable tires with similar qualities such as the falken 452 and yokohama es100.

Personally i've had all the tires. yokos are louder as tread wear durates, nittos arent so bad, and falkens aren't either. they all have stiff side wall for street performance. They are all very similar products. Nitto 555 is a good choice

i'm on my second set of Nitto NT-555's. My first set lasted about 2 1/2 years and a year after being lowered. I got my rims/tires at around 500 miles and i am currently at 43k and have only put about 5 or 6k miles since this pair so the first pair lasted about 37k miles. The noise level is very low compared to other performance tires and the wet traction is actually pretty good. I have NEVER had a problem with traction on wet roads with these tires. I highly recommend them...and they are also pretty cheap now...when i got my first pair...not so cheap

the tires dont necessarily protect the rim from curb rashes or any cosmetic damage. Obviously, the lower profile a tire means less cushioning/shock absortion from the tires. Thats why low pro wheels get bent so easily, and that they have large diameters. Tires dont guard wheels.

I see. I will most likely go with the Nittos since I wanted Summer tires anyway (Nexens are all-season)

I know this is the tC board...but having run the Nexen 3000s on the box......(NFW never again would I use the 3000's....traction, cornering, and noise..they suck!)

Get neither.

Go with the Falken 615's if you want the best bang for the buck tire. If you have cash in your wallet man up to the Toyo R888's or if you are man enough to daily drive on R comps get the Nto1's.

All seasons ftl

getting max performance tires for everyday use is a waste of tire and money. Keep that for the track or for high end cars.

The 555 is a high performance everyday tire and have a tread ware that reflects it. They are no all season and they aren't a Track tire either. The 555 is a great tire choice for a DD that sees mostly dry streets and roads. They are excelent for most spirited driving.

That’s interesting that they would recommend the Nexen over the Nitto 555, they’re in two different classes IMO. The Nittos are far and away better and worth spending more if there is a price difference. There are some reviews here: Nitto 555 We will also guaranty the lowest price delivered.
