Default Noob Tire Question

Sorry if its a noob question, but will 215/35/17 tires fit on my 2007 stock rim? Im in the market for some new tires and wanted something nice to go with gloss black painted oem rims! Thanks!

yea but i dont know why you would ever want to do that. It is going to make the ride worse and wont look good probably either.

Stock rim? Buy a stock size tire. That is all.

To answer your question, yes, tires that size would fit the oem wheels. The difference between that size and ours is the thickness of the tire. The tire size you've mentioned is slightly thinner than the oem size tires. Tire measurments are read in the following order [width of tire/thickness of tire/wheel size]. As long as the width of the tire is 215,225, maybe eveen 235 (i'm not sure what the tire width limit for 7 inch width wheels are) and the wheel size is 17, you should be able to put them on the oem wheels. I wouldn't recommend getting thinner tires for the oem wheels, stick with the oem size 215/45/17. I'm sure Toyota must have done some testing before selecting that tire size for the oem 17's, so stick with the oem specs unless you're buying wider wheels.

If you go with a 215/35/17 tire the car will look horrible. Your going to have a huge wheel gap and the car will seem like its actually on smaller wheels. It will also throw off your speedometer by quite a bit.

Just buy a 215/45, our oem spec tires are low profile enough.

As they said above ^ a 215/35/17 will fit the oem wheel. Your wheels would look small, ride quality would be worse and you would look like your Monster truckin. I'm on factory 17s with 215/ 45/17 on S-techs and still I have too much wheel gap.. I need Moar low.lol Tien Ss-P later this year.

215 Means the width of the tire <-->

35 means the height^

and the 17 means the size of your rim.

The higher the number the thicker or taller the thread is. 35 means that your going to feel alot of the bumps on the road. 40's are a choice for stocks.

Not to mention that there are hardly any tires in the a 215/35 size, the few that I found are quite expensive

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...15&ar=35&rd=17

Not only would you have a broader selection of tires but you can get a better performing tire for cheaper.

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=215

This car below is on a 205/40/17 tire, and it looks horrendous. (the car and the tire both )

This is the 215/35 that you want to use,

It doesn't matter how low your car is what not you are effectively reducing the circumference of your oem spec tire from 77.4" to 71.9", which is a huge difference.

So yes, the answer to your question is, yes it will fit. But your going to end up with an ugly looking car.
