I have Pirelli tires on my sciontc 05 now. Should i replace them and try out the kumho tires?

Replace them when they're worn out.

Can't really say what brand to get, as it depends on your type of driving and which model tires from each brand that you're comparing.

Kumho has several models that provide a lot of bang for the buck, and are a better deal than Pirelli these days, imo.

They have a better price/performance ratio than the equivalent Pirelli tires. The asx is a good tire, so if it's in your price range and you like them, go for it.

go for the kumho asx's i have them and they're the best bang for your buck. Read some of the reviews on tirerack.com, i have them and so far i love them and imo their all season performance cant be beat for the price....

How are the ASX's compared to General's Altimax HP --- on tirerack reviews on the General's are a bit higher...

I have contiextremecontacts on mine here in seattle which work great in rain snow and dry.. They work great and last about 30k on hard driving =x

How are the ASX's with noise, comfort, and steering?

i have the asx's on my ride, they have awesome threadwear, they still have tons of threadwear and i bought them used, compared to stock yoko's these definitely have better grip, takes more effort to break them loose, and i have yet to hear them squeal on a turn, i take the occassional high speed turn and never felt like the tires were going anywhere.

as for wet traction, they could be better, but i have no problem going 60 on the highway pouring rain, but anything above that and you start to feel them giving away

im most likely going to buy these same tires when these wear out!

The Kumho's are great for the money. I've had them for a little over a year and haven't had any problems. They suck in the rain though.

I'd take a look at the Potenza RE960AS, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus, and the ContiExtremeContacts. They're rated much higher than the Kumho's for wet, dry and snow traction. The Pilots are the highest rated tire in it's class.

I won't be buying the same tires again. They don't offer anywhere near enough traction for boost.

i have had several tires from kumho including the cheap 711 that where made two years ago . i upgraded to asx's and they lasted me 30k due to inner wear on the tire for being low on stechs . upgraded to kumhos SPT tires and wow these tires for the price are good they feel better in the rain and when taking sharp turns. Road noise are hardly ever heard they are very quiet compared to the asx .

CarbonXe knows what he's talking about! OP is in NY and you're gunna need something that preforms well in all seasons. extremecontacts are 101 a tire.. not that much more for a quality tire

i have Kumho MX (i think lol i havent looked at the tire in a while) but they rock! they are summer only tires and are pretty good if not better then the KDWs i had on before.

I had Kumho Ecsta SPT before and they were good for the money. They weren't great in the rain however and the road noise becomes more noticeable as they lose tread. Otherwise they are good.

I've decided to switch to Vredestein since then and am glad I did. Awesome in any condition minus snow and they rock but are more expensive.

Get the Kumho's!
