Default Quick rim offset question

Hello guys, I am a bit confused

I am going to use 215/45/17 tires

And rims are 40mm offset. I know stock is 45mm

Will this push my wheel out more, or will it be push in more? and Im guessing

5mm is about 2 inch?

5mm does not equal two inches.

and offset works like this...

40 41 42 34 44 45

as you can see the 40 is further out than the 45, which means it will push your wheel out more, 5mm more to be precise, thats if you have a 7inch wide wheel.

basically the lower the number, the more it will stick out, which is a good thing(as long as you dont over do it)

5 CENTImeters would = 2 in.
5 MILLImeters would ~ .2 in.
