Might be ok for the OP since his main use is commuting, but the 912 isn't that great for handling. Got myself a set at xmas and now wish I'd spent a little more for something that sticks better.

I got Kumho Ecsta ASTs on my ride... Great all around tire for wet and dry. Plus they are dirt cheap

Just picked up 4 Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position
It runs very smooth, are very quiet and are just overall great tires.
Although they are a bit expensive compared to the other tires, it is worth every penny.

FYI, the first couple hunderd miles your wearing down the molding compound after that they get better. I was very suprised on how well they grip in wet conditions.
Excellent choice!!!

I need to replace my stock yoko's too. I have about 36,000 on mine.

How are Nitto Neo Gen?

What are the better tires?

IDK what to get....when I had my Stratus I put Goodyear Integrity tires on it.....FAIL!! I hated those things with a passion and the 60,000 mile mileage warranty....FAIL! Always picked up nails amongst other things.

I replaced those when I had my Konig Hotswap wheels wrapped in Yoko YK520....much better than the Goodyear but I don't know if it was the wheels or the roads but the tires had the same problems. They have soft sidewalls and are susceptible to nails and other things. They also have a 60,000 mile mileage warranty......they may have lived up to that had I not traded the car in.

Anyway....need tire recommendations.

I would like a quiet ride, smooth, grips the road well in wet and dry conditions.

^^^ forgot to tell them that Tirerack doesn't sell Nitto or Toyo. so they can't get reviews from tirerack on those tires.

surprised no one said anything about the Toyo Proxes 4 tires. Great price, traction, everything. Have no problems in the rain, and with the recent downpour were having in cali, thats saying a lot.

doooood!!! I'm in the same boat as OP is. I just reached 30k and uncle who is a car mechanic told me I need new tires when i got him to change my oil =[

I got the Bridgestone Potenza RE92 stockies which I am told is crap but when you look at tirerack they are 227 each(but it says "special" next to it though so they probably cost more), and the yoko stockies are 222 each? what the hell gives? cheaper aftermarkets are better for lower price?

I don't use my car for just commutes though, I drive around alot for work locally, and I HATE my job which causes me to drive faster than usual sometimes and break later, etc. which probably caused them to wear more. I been going 60-65 on freeways and 30-35 on local (obeying the law =[) the past few weeks cuz I can see my tires are pretty jacked. Can't tell where the wear mark is on my tires and the sides look like they are peeling off cuz I keep curbing them...

what GTs do you have? I just went to the toyota dealer cuz they have a buy 3 get 1 free deal and they have goodyear gts for 145ish. He told me they were goodyear gt "asbx" or something, I asked him what those were and he didn't know either...

I was leaning toward the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position also. I heard some of these have like rim protectors or something cuz the tires stick out more? I'm curious though how these or any other "highly rated" tires stand up to the stockies, or why the hell are the stockies so expensive....

i'd say toyo proxes4 or nitto neo gen

i stayed away from bridgestone, when i did try them they didn't balance up well. many out of round for my liking.

Stockies are expensive because NO ONE buys them except for the auto maker!

Other tires i've heard are the BFG g-sport a/s i think that was the name and the Goodyear Eagle F1-All season.

those with regular suspension haven't come on here to review how the f1-all seasons are on the tC. it has a kevlar sidewall, keep thinking that would make for a VERY STIFF ride.

The "stockies" have both gone up considerably in price over the last couple years, just like all tires seem to have. Last time I checked the site, they were "only" $180 & $178, respectively. For some unknown reason, some people simply feel the need to replace their tires with what came on the car, such that retailers can charge whatever they feel they can get away with, just as we see in this case. I'm sure Toyota didn't pay that much for all those tires on new tCs.

Yes, good thing we can get MUCH better quality for a MUCH lower price. The Falkens I got are at least a little better than stock in every way (dry/wet/wear), and were only $79 each.
