Removing Rim Paint?
#23
i used aircraft paint remover on my enkeis. it ate through the rattlecan paint that the previous owner of my rpf1s had painted on within seconds, and continued to chomp through the enkei silver powdercoat that was underneath the bronze rattle-can paint within minutes.
with some
paint om nom nom
ew
win
Needless to say, it MIGHT be a bit overkill just to take off rattlecan paint, but that's your call.

I'd paint over it, the paint just needs something to stick to.
Depending on how nice the original paint turned out (is it peeling, uneven, splatter, orange peel?), you could just go ahead and sand it just enough to rough the surface up, and not take it all the way down. Clean, dry, paint a light coat (or primer), let it dry, paint another light coat, let it dry, paint a final coat.
Now the most important part is, be sure to use clear coat. Just repeat the same steps as for painting. It usually turns out fine for me.
