Also, it's not the fact that we're trying to compensate for anything. If you're going to change something your whole car rides on, why would you get something of lesser value and quality than what came with the car from the factory? Personally, I feel it's a safety issue and that's why I bought my "baller" wheels. Sure, more expensive wheels CAN bend or break, but the chance of that happening is much less than if I was rolling on Tenzos, Rotas, Sportmax, ect.
Dont get me wrong or anything....i know the quality level of Rota isnt gonna be at the same level as WORK or ADVAN but i mean....it should atleast be saying something if theyre running them right?
....i guess thats where "to each there own" comes in right? hahaha
Suby owners buy Rotas because, yes, they look good (because Rota rips off the designs of other manufacturer's most popular wheels). Ask anyone why they bought Rotas and they will say it's because they looked good. Rotas makes multiple fitments and multiple colors other wheel makers don't. And finally, Rotas are priced cheaply for anyone and their mom to afford.
Slipstreams and Torques are the only Rota wheels with the stress rating that allows them to hold up on the track, which is why you only see those 2 wheels on track cars. All other Rota wheels are NOT ok to used on the track. Kinda makes you wonder why they sell the other wheels with low stress ratings. Most people know what they're getting when they decided to purchase a set of Rota wheels. They know it's a low quality imitated wheels of the more expensive brand. They know the wheel are not as durable/reliable as the original. They don't don't buy the Rota's wheels and expect them to perform on the same level as Volks, Advans, or BBS. It's like buying ebay HKS imitated intercoolers and expecting to be as good as the orignal HKS. You know you're getting knocks off, so you should know that you're going to get knock off quality.
To me, there's much more satisfaction in buying quality wheels. Work, Rays, Advan, BBS, ect. are expensive for a reason. Those manufacturer's wheels are built with quality, using the correct method of casting or forging, inspected with the highest degree of QA, and proven to withstand the most brutal environments. Also, keep in mind that a quality wheel will bend when it hits a curb, not catastrophically shatter like Rotas, Tenzos, Konig, ect.
Personally, I wouldn't buy them again, I Had advan RS's on my STi and I have had thm and a friends rota g force (RS knockoff) next to each other, the advan just looks better, not to mention it is much much much lighter.
Quality or not, I just don't understand why no one seems to respect originality or creativity. Can I assume that you'd all prefer to be wearing a fake Rolex, fake Oakleys, and that you buy your girlfriend/wife fake Louis Vuitton purses?
Someone used their creativity and resources to make that style that you admire. Either dig deep to pay for it, or respect it/them enough not to rip them off or support other miserable bastards that do.

Its actually roto in spanish.
"Se ha roto" - it has been broken (in passive form).
Romper - to break.
Roto - past participle of romper (irregular form).
and it doesnt mean broken...it means frayed or torn apart
