Default Scion Tc Rims are chipping

Has anyone had chipping on there original 17" rims? I think it is chipping I’m seeing black dots like paint, but to the touch seams smooth. I have tried to remove with many different things like paint remover, bug and tar nothing works. If it is the paint chipping is this under warranty.

I really wouldn't know since on not using the stockies anymore but if its smooth like you say, then it prolly isn't chiping. I would try using tar remover again and scrub as hard as possible after letting it soak on the wheel for a while. Just c if scrubbing harder works since you siad its "smooth." a chip or ding would feel rigid and rough. I've seen chiping before and its not smooth nor black.

I tried alot it's not coming off. They are small black dots smooth to the touch, but sence they are so small I don't think I would feal them with my finger. Went to the junkyard to pull some parts from another tc and the rims had black spots only bigger on them.

well maybe they are rock chips. just real smalls ones and maybe due to them being so small, it was most likely a small rock that did it and maybe only took off a fine layer of paint.

Over a year on my stock wheels with no chips or scratches, they look like when I bought the car new. That wouldn't seem normal to me.

That's probably road tar.

if it's on the inside all over the inside of the wheel area. Then that's the primer they used before they painted the outside of the wheel (face area). I've seen other tC wheels like this. It looks like a bunch of black dots, almost like pepper. If you've used tar remover and it didn't come off, then that's what it is.

You might want to take a picture and post it for us all to see.

yes normal wear & tear!!! 10,000 miles is plenty to encounter all sorts of debris & grim that can & will harm not only rims but other exterior parts of the car i.e. paint.. crazy?!? haha they are only stock rims... dont cry over oem

Its not chipping, its the finish on the rims. I used to detail at BMW and their 18" M3 wheels have the same coating. Certain chemicals will stain the coating, leaving the black dots. Sometimes a rubbing compund can remover, other times, the only way to get it out is to buff it. My advice, go buy some of that liquid tire shine (not the foam) and any brand is fine (its only like 6 bucks from wal mart). Rub that into the rim and it should hide the stain. It will make the rim look all nice a shiney also, but keep in mind that his is only temporary, youll have to keep doing this evrytime u wash ur car. Hope this helps. If it doesnt im sorry, im not sure how different the coat is from the M3 whels. I have an rs2 so mines are painted

It probally in normal wear, you take the car on the road, its not going to be in mint condition forever.
