SSR Speed Star Racing was filing for BK and was bought out by Tanabe and was changed to Speed Star Wheel which are now sold through Tire Rack.
The SSR Professor SP1 are now Professor SP1 without the "SSR" decal on the wheels and Professor SP1 stamped on the center caps, not SSR.
These are only available for the TC in a 18x8.0 with a +49 offset. I bought these 4 months ago and was quite disappointed to find out that they weren't
actual SSR. For months I was saving $$$ and tried to track these down in the size and offset that I specifcally wanted but gave up and settled for the only sets that Tire Rack offered

sorry man, I didn't mean to discourage. I just wanted share some info I picked up when I bought these, I still have them so don't get me wrong, they're an awesome set of wheels. I got a set 15mm H&R and bolt extensions for sale if you're interested. These will push out the rear nicely.

That has some false information in it, speed star wheel is not affiliated with SSR. They are manufacturing those wheels with standard forging and not semi-solid "based" on SSR (aka knockoffs) and Tanabe hasn't announced any plans to bring SSR and their productions back, other than their original statement along the lines of "we would like to continue their company's tradition bla bla bla" and nothing has come of it yet. Also Tire Rack is the only official distributor in the US for SSR. Now Japan is a totally different story...
SSR filed for bankruptcy Janurary 2005 and hasn't produced anything since.
Here's hoping you don't damage a rim beyond repair, I have 3 useless SSR Competition 18x8's because one got destroyed in an accident months ago and I've searched ever since to find another, to no avail... I should've gone with the HRE's.
