Default tC: Tire gauge wont turnoff??

I have some 19's and my tire pressure gauge stays on and all my tires are perfect.
So every time the gauge comes on I always reset it.

Do u guys have any clue on what's the problem?

What year is your tC? If it is an 07 or 08, you have to transfer the TPMS Sensors into the new tires.

I'm feeling nice today so I will answer your question, it's been answered many many times here before though. You are not resetting your tire pressure sensor, you're just clearing it. If you want the answer , it is in the Manual... I thinks it's funny how a ton of people post these repetitive threads, for instance....

"My E-brake light comes on when I accelerate, what's wrong"
"Maint Req'd light, what does it mean?"
"My windows don't work anymore, all I did was disconnect the battery"
" My tire light keeps coming back after a certain amount of miles"

And I could go on....

But i said I would be nice, lol.

You have to clear the current light on your dash by pressing the button in the glove box, then once it's off, press and hold that same button for at least ten seconds and the dash light will start to blink, let it blink three times and you're all set.

And if it's an 07, 08 listen to drax

Yeah, to actually reset the TPMS you have to hold the reset button down until the (!) actually flashes at your like three times, and then stays on for like 30 seconds to acknowledge that you have reset it.

I just did this for my co-worker with her new 07 tC, she called me all freaked out that something might be wrong with her car, and after listening to her message, I knew immediately that her Maint. Req. light came on, or she got her tires rotated and they didn't reset her TPMS.

Actually not that new, just a few days short of a year. Just not a lot of posts. I thought the same thing, it's probably an 07 since his/her join date was exactly the time when the 07s were coming out.

yeah, i made sure to explain that to my co-worker so that she doesn't give away her tire pressure sensors if/when she swaps her wheels.

I thought you had to get a whole new system if you threw away your sensors because they are specifically matched to your tC's on-board computer?

Oh well, I'll never have to worry about it with an 05, hahaha!

Let me get this straight..so the 06 tC's don't have the sensor on them right...I just checked my stock wheels and they don't have the sensor on the rim.

05-06 Scion tC's don't have TPMS Sensors in the tires. They use the ABS wheel speed sensor to detect if one wheel is rotating slower than the other ones to indicate that one tire is low on air.

The 07-08 actually have sensors in the tires themselves that have to actually be transferred between wheels when you change them.

Hey,

I used to Search feature and this is what I found, so no giving me a hard time about bringing up old post.

The tire pressure light is stuck on, in my wife's 05 Scion tC.

I put air in 3 of the tires (stock tires and wheels)
Put them all to around 34 psi in the manual .

Could someone please give a better description on the button in the glove box
And / Or
Please let me know page number or at least the chapter to look in the Manual, just finding the Tire pressure was a pain, as it wasn't in the DIY maintenance section.

I would appreciate it, thanks!

That tire pressure is wrong. The tire pressure is marked on the door jamb. 32 front, 29 rear is the recommended.

However, if the tires on the same axle are the same pressure, the tire pressure light should not be on after you reset.

The button is right there when you open the glove box. My manual is down in the car, but if you look up tire in the index you should be able to find it.

And from a post above in this thread (which is in the manual as well when you find it)

You have to clear the current light on your dash by pressing the button in the glove box, then once it's off, press and hold that same button for atleast ten seconds and the dash light will start to blink, let it blink three times and you're all set.

07 new rims can't use the sensors... does the same glove box trick work to turn the light off and keep it off? Thank you for your time
