tire air pressure question
I recently got new wheels and tires put on my tC. I also got the original tire sensors transferred to the new tires...all of this was about 3 weeks ago. Recently the tire sensor light came on...I figured it doesn't have to do with the sensors or tires being put on incorrectly because then the light would have come on immediately or pretty soon after (at least I think). Someone told me that the sensor may get confused because it might be set up to know what the correct inflation should be for my ORIGINAL tires, and my new ones may need something completely different...is this correct? Basically I'm wondering if the light turned on because it thinks the pressure should be set at what my old tires are or if I really do need more air....since I just got them put on a few weeks ago I wouldn't think I already needed air but the temp has been bouncin up and down so that could be a possibility...I just don't know much about the tire sensor thing. Oh and another question--am I supposed to look at the side of the new tires to know what pressure to inflate to or do I stick with what is on the side of the door because that's what my particular car needs? thanks

hi im a tech! first off your tire pressure is on your drivers side door. it will tell you what pressure you should run to each tire probably around 35psi. as for the tire pressure monitoring system try to resest it according to manufacturer specififcations. its in your owners manual but anyway theres a button in the glove compartment. i cant rememeber if thee is a sequence or not!

Have you even checked your tire pressure? stock is 32 front and 29 rear.
If you haven't already tried resetting the TPMS with the button in the glove box then do so. But if it took 3 weeks for that light to come on chances are you're tires are low.

The tire is going to have the highest possible PSI you could run on the sidewall..DO NOT INFLATE THE TIRE TO THAT AMOUNT. That's just an indication of how much it can handle before it pops..if you don't want to run the specified PSI then just run 32 or 34psi all around and you will be fine. I wouldn't go above 34
