which tire for autocross UPDATE:...I have a 2nd question :-P
So i just bought an extra set of stock rims to put a tire for autocross use on once i scrape up some more cash. I had been planning on getting azenies, but one of the cashiers at belle tire said he could hook me up with toyo proxes for cheaper than getting the azenies at discrount tire and he said the toyos would out perform the falkens in autocross. Which tire should I get? the proxes or azenies...

Well it depends on which kind of toyos they are...I know the proxes 4's and t1r's are both excellent tires, not made specifically for autoX and the azenis are made for road racing so I feel that the falkens would hold up better to tight cornering and etc. That they go through during autoXing so I would go for the falkens you should also consider nitto invo's correct me if I'm wrong but i believe they are made for autoX look em up hope this helps

Someone is trying to sell you something
If you want some of the best bang for your buck for autox, get the azenis. If you want to really go further with it, get the Bridgestone RE01R's. And if you go to discounttiredirect.com (same company as discount tire, but that is their online only store) you can get the azenis cheaper than at discounttire.com and they come with free shipping. About $100 a pop last time I ordered a set this year.
I see very, very few people running toyo's at our events. The majority that dont run r-comps are running Azenis or bridgestones. The guys that really want the best street tire for it and hit the nationals events each year seem to be moving towards the bridgestones. But, they are spendy, and the azenis do a great job.
The only thing with the Azenis is that if they get too hot, they get a bit greasey. But during the events on hot days, people usually bring a lawn and garden sprayer full of water to spray them down after runs and cool them off.
Azenis really are taylored to autox if you read up at most sites selling them.

I've got my sprayer ready to go for an event tomorrow.. just washed out the weed killer and add water
Now hopefully I dont drive like a tool and give up 2-3 places on the slaloms this time.. I have no idea what the hell was up with me last event!

Go with the Aeznis, if engifineer hasn't already swayed you. I have run them for a while, and they do great. They are almost made spesifically for autocross: heat up to operating temp. very fast, and grip like hell. It's true they will get slick on very hot days, so if you're competitive use the sprayer. I just ran an HPDE weekend with them, and towards the end of my 30 min sessions they did start to get a little slick.
Cliffnotes: buy the Azenis, and don't look back.

okay guys I actually have another question and since you all know so much about azenies, who better to ask? :-)
my original plan was to only use the azenies when autoxing, and always use my OEMs for daily driving. I was just wondering how many miles I'd get out of the azenies if I daily drove them during the summer? (thus only using my stockies for the cold seasons...)

why don't you just save the azenis for auto-x? my friend who is more experienced at auto-x used to have these tires. he daily drove them and said after one summer, he could feel the difference in the tires. i guess all the heat cycles from daily driving them made them less sticky. just putting in something i heard from my friend as i don't use these tires.
