Here are the pictures. I'm wondering if a tire change is necessary. I got this about 2-3 hours ago while I was taking a right at an intersection. I hit a red curb. There aren't any dents on the rim, just a lot of scratches. What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

It's kinda hard to tell when the pictures don't work.

yeah i'd replace the tire. Tire sidewalls have a matrix of nylon/polyester/rayon etc.. well depends on what the tire is made of but you get the idea. And if you chunk off a piece of rubber you get closer to that material inside the tire. It basically is a weakened tire now. Could blow out because of the weakened sidewall. So yeah if that was my tire i'd get a new one.

Any sidewall damage usually leads to tire replacement, your case is more severe.

Ouch man. I had some sidewall shred off once but it was only the top rubber layer and my uncles shop said just to cut it off to prevent it from wanting to peel. Yours on the other hand is pretty bad.

That's bad, and should be replaced, but it's not really an emergency repair situation. You can probably drive on that for a while as long as you take it easy through the curves and corners, and keep your speed down. However, if you do drive on it make sure you check it every time for any bulging anywhere on the sidewall. If it starts bulging at all, or if you feel any vibration start while you're driving then make sure you stop immediately and get it replaced, as that probably means the tire is about to blow. Don't get me wrong, driving on it at all is a risk, but unless it gets worse it's a fairly low chance.

I wouldn't worry about it. I assume you hit a curb. This happened to my girl and we continued to drive on her tires for 1500 or less more miles. We eventually swapped the tires because she needed a change (30000+ miles on Yoko S3) but the tires ran fine.

Oh but do change the tires when you get the money but if you don't have the fundings at this moment, just take it easy.
