Default Tire exploded O.o

So I was sitting at a stoplight last wednesday waiting to get on I-85 (about an hour from home) and I started to smell burning rubber, the smell was overwhelming, but I assumed it was the straight truck in front of me, out my air on circulate, and ignored it.

As I was getting off of the ramp into the Interstate I accelerated to about 65 to get around the truck, and it felt like I ran over something, I figured a gator o just a piece of tire in general. I noticed it felt like I had a flat, looked and my ( ! ) light was on so i drove slowly to the next exit.

Got out and looked, the sidewalls of my front passenger tire were ripped to shreds, and I was almost riding the rim, there was a trail of rubber chunks behind me, and the tire and wheel were both scalding.

Luckily, a clarks tire employee (prominent tire shop in NC) happened to be passing by and helped me get it replaced with his gun, seeing as the lugs were impossible to hand crank off. His store happened to be 2 miles down the road and was closing in 30 minutes, he called them and told them we were coming and to see what tires they had for my car. They happened to have two different types, one was H rated so that wouldn't work, and the other Z, GY Eagle F1 All Seasons, on sale for $154 a piece. Mine were close to showing their indicators anyways so I went ahead and took the full set.

my wallet hurts :-/

I just spent about 550 for new tires balancing and alignment. Had them on for 2 days and then poop. Bent my 2 rear rims which caused the tire to go flat. now I'm back on my stockies with bald tires until I can save some money to get the other rims fixed. nice luck huh

Sure it would. Nothing wrong with using H rated tires, especially if funds are limited, as they're good up to a sustained 130mph (meaning they can run that fast for a LONG time) and the tC only does 127. Of course Z rated is preferred and usually (not always) indicates a better tire, but H is fine for many drivers, and just because the tC comes with Z that doesn't mean everyone has to stick with that rating.

FWIW.

yep the only real reason we put Z rated on the car is to handle corners better,we cannot outrun the tires........if you are low on cash you can get H rated.......so did you trash the tire sensor or was it able to reset.......flat tires suck.
