Default Tire pressure warning light

Little bit confused. My tire pressure warning came on yesterday, so I stopped at a gas station and used the station's pressure gauge to check each tire. I consulted the owner's manual to check the correct pressure for the tires (stockies) and they were all fine. Each one was a bit above the target pressure and each one had the same pressure.

Well, I didn't put any air into the tires. I just used the reset button to turn off the warning and drove away. I thought the warning would soon come back if something was wrong, but the warning has not returned in almost 24 hours and ~50 miles of driving.

Seems like no big deal, but I know that warning lights don't just come on for no reason. I was really exopecting the warning to come back. The fact that it has not returned has made me wonder why it came on in the first place. Any ideas?

you have to hold the reset button longer. I believe it is like for a full 10 seconds or so. It will blink and flash. You just aren't holding the reset button long enough.

Does anyone actually read posts these days, or do people just look at the title?

Dang, am I the only one who can see this?

Did you have your tires rotated recently? You have an 'o7, right? Did they come with the tire sensors? Maybe one of the sensors could be on the verge of dying. If the warning comes back, I would go to the dealership (under warranty, correct?) and have them check out the sensors.

Yes I do have an 07 and yes I am under warranty. However, I have not had the tires rotated. I have not performed any kind of wheel or tire work and everything is the same way it came from the factory. I am probably due for a rotation, but I haven't done it yet, so I don't know what would trigger the warning. I wonder if you could be right about a dying sensor. I will definitely go to the dealership if the warning returns, but I was surprised that it hasn't returned yet.

By the way, thanks for actually taking the time to read my post.

Okay, I will try to be MORE clear. if you press the reset button, it will flash 3 times I believe and then turn off the tire pressure light. What I am saying, is that after those 3 flashes and the light turns off, KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTON. It will then flash a couple of more times, once it stops that SECOND TIME, then it has been completely reset. until then, it has not been reset. If that doesn't work, go to the dealer.
It probably came on that first time because you didn't reset it properly the last time and so it wasn't functioning properly. It has happened to me as well. I thought there was something wrong, and the dealer told me that its because it wasn't set properly the first time. Now that you checked all of the tires, reset properly.

P.S. We all read your thread and are all trying to help. Next time I will try to be clearer so you understand.

I still don't quite follow. This was the first time and there was no last time. I haven't even touched the wheels. The car came from the dealer with the correct settings, I assume. Are you saying it could have come from the factory/dealer without the pressure sensor being properly configured?

Even on a brand new, straight off the boat tC, the INITIAL ACTIVATION of the TPM system needs to be done by the dealer - usually it it, sometimes it isn't, sometimes it wasn't done quite right...

The guys are quite right about doing a full, proper reset. I believe the manual covers this, and beyond that the pre-delivery setting, etc., is covered in a TSB (see my sig).

There is also a sticky topic at the very top of THIS forum that gives some info on the new TPM system.

LOL what still dont you quite understand? He basically broke down how to reset your tire pressure sensor as detailed as you possibly can. As Spect stated before if those steps he gave you dont work THEN go to the dealership, good luck :D !

Because I never even asked how to reset the damn thing. The step-by-step instructions are great and all, but completely irrelevant. I already know how to do it and I already stated in my original post that I did it yesterday. I asked why it came on considering that my wheels are stock and untouched, and the pressure is fine. It took a while, but I finally received the answer that the sensor could have been improperly set by the dealer. I suppose that renders this feature useless for anyone who does not manually set it. Difficult to comprehend, but whatever.

At least I finally know that there is nothing wrong with the tires and the warning light was just lying to me.

^ Nope I got it too!
I am always having troubs with my tire sensor light coming on and off. Sometimes pressure is ok- sometimes not. Toyota looked at it, nothing wrong w/ sensors and warranty can't replace something that ain't broke.
