Tire rub if purchase 235 45 18?
So I have a stock suspension with the 225 40 18 on TRD 18x7.5 and was wondering about possible rub as I would like to purchase 235 45 18s for a slightly wider tire to protect my rim and larger diameter in hopes to slightly combat our low gear ratios and perhaps improve highway gas mileage. Anyone have this or similar setup or know if this would create problems? I looked first but couldn't find anything when I searched.

On an added note, I was wondering if kumho ecsta asx's are a good enough value, or if spending 200 bucks on michelin pilot sport a/s plus since they show the best reviews in its category? I figured I'd post another of my questions here since no one appears to know about the first lol

you might rub going with a 235 but I doubt it. your biggest concern going that wide is you may lose the nice stiff sidewall on that size of rim....225's are pretty safe and give a nice wide track and a solid vertical sidewall. As for the Kumho Ecsta ASX's.... BUY THEM!!!! I had a set on my last tC and they handled great. A very good all season performance tire and you can get them at a steal of a price too. And I live in CO too...so that's where I drove on them. I'll tell you right now...you will NOT be disappointed.

I am thinking about that size for the wheels that I am about 2 get, 18X7.5 wheels......I did a little bit of research, you can choose Pirelli Pzero Nero(manufactured in Germany), or Toyo Proxes T1R, both are sticky ones, but Pirelli need a little warm up before you make some serious run. Both are good...but I am gonna to choose Toyo Tires, because I like the tread design. But since you have a stock suspension without lowering it, you dont have to worry about rubbing, mine is droped so there's a possiblity of rolling fenders.......I will find out soon enough once I do the test fitment. I will post the pics once all the work is done.

in addition, I am running on stock rims w/ Nitto Neo Gen, man....are they hell of grip or what, I was doing 50 on a 25mile on-ramp. Too bad I checked, they make the 235s 45 18 but is for the rim width {8-8.5-9}

I just ended up going with the stock size 225/40-18 due to price, but the tire shop I got to install my tires had toyo proxes fz4s for barely more than fuzions and didn't carry kumhos, pretty happy with them so far, not so happy about finding out 2/4 of my wheels have decent size dents in them...

235-40 r18 r ok!
If u have stock suspension u r ok, but if u lower ur car 2 inch u rub. I have 235/40 r18, but i think i'll be ok if i lower my car 1,4 front and 1,3 back. check my pic's
