What Tires To Get?
Hey guys.. my stock potenza's are basically done.. and I have a 17x7 +40 offset wheel setup (My wheels are aftermarket, not stock.. if it really matters.)
So, I'm looking for some input on what kind of tires I should get. I'm dropped on S-techs and planning to get spacers so I don't want it to rub but I do want to clear up some of the gap that the S-techs left in the rear to make it look even at least. The stock tires were 215/40/17 I think.. I'm probably looking into 245/40/17 tires. Would you recommend this?
And for those dropped on s-techs and got bigger/fatter sized tires (17").. did you notice a gap change between the stock tires and your new ones?

falken or bf goodrich kdw. stock tire is 215/45-17 and i would stay with that size especially with s-techs. plus if you change size you change speedo and mileage and lose power (with bigger size). and i don't think 245s would fit a 7" rim.

Read that through, i'd recommend the avon tech m550s...you won't need to buy a snow tire (if even needed), and they are GREAT overall tires according to MANY reviews

i'm debating whether or not to just get stock 215/45/17 tires or get 225/45/17's. I want performance tires that also clears up a little of the gap that the s-techs left on the rear.

Id say stick with 215s. The overall diameter of a 225-45 is taller which may cause a little bit of rubbing with a lower drop. I have the TRD springs and 225-45/17 on 17x8 +35 and get a little bit of rubbing in the front wheel whels over bumps. Its not bad and the +35 offset is somewhat resposible. My next set of tires will porbably be the Azenis again but in 235-40/17 which is closer to the stock overall tire height. The Azenis RT-615 have exponentially more grip than stock so the 215s should take excellent care of you. I would recommend that tire more than anything else out there after very aggressive street and track use with it.

goodyear f1's quiet? yeah right. they are loud and the wear on those arent all that great. stick with something reasonably priced and get either falken ziex-512, or maybe even some kumho's 711 or the 712 supras. they are cheap, and the wear on those is minimal. and dont go 225. stay 215.

ditto: i run them as a daily driver tire....you may get 10k out of them? 200 treadwear is pretty soft compound so also it depends on your style of driving

I have had mine installed since March and have about 2-3000 miles on them including 2 track days. The tread depth is still very healthy with no signs of uneven wear. I would see them easily lasting me a full year at this rate and a non track car seeing up 18 months or more. Time will tell, but that is my assesment so far
