This is just my opinion but I think that Vinyl wraps come out looking better. I have never heard of this dip you car thing I have seen rims done but not a whole car. Mind you I have not seen a "dipped" car up close either but from the pics online im not impressed.

the 'pro car kit' from dipyourcar.com is $286.

but that doesn't include paying someone to do it, or the cost of your own time if you have the ***** to do it yourself. i plastidipped my rims and it does chip from rocks hitting it. i say the wrap is definitely more durable and probably looks better. but if your on a budget, the plasti dip is a good alternative.

Ive used the dip not from the gun but from the can and it came out thick and kinda bumpy, not anywhere near the finish of the wrap. Pluss if it is a think surface and anything scratches it, it will start peeling.
The down side on the wrap is its such a pain in the *** to put on esp if your doing large sections and then even harder with the curves.
I would say white but if it gets anything dark on it, it will probably stain it since its matte. I think black looks pretty bad*** as well tho.
Btw whoevers is the silver you did a great job but tbh i dont like the color.

Don't dip your car. I've dipped my wheels black, and when the plastidip gets dirty, it's nearly impossible to clean. I couldn't imagine what a lighter colour of the plastidip would look like once it gets dirty.

Yea there's a guy that did a matte Orange wrap. I can't remember what his screen name is though.
I'm with you guys on the wrap > dip. But in dipyourcar's defense, it's not just plastidip that you're spraying on your car. The kit comes with a whole gun and respirator system and such, and the dip is mixed with other things to make it more consistent. Thats why you're paying $275 as opposed to $7 for the dip. If you've ever sprayed paint out of a gun, then you can tell the difference between that and rattle canning your rims. Also, I saw a car at a show a few weeks ago that dipped his car with their pro kit, and it looked sexy as hell

just have to not let dirt and brake dust stay on them too long, it will stain. but if cleaned every weekend or so you shouldnt have a problem. i dipped the wheels on my truck white about 8 months ago and they are still whiter than most peoples teeth. ill post pics of it later.

I just got mine wrapped Matte Metallic Blue about 4 weeks ago and it came out clean!!
You just have to keep it clean and out of the sun as much as possible. The grease/oil from your hands leave fingerprints on the doors too. Bird poop can stain the vinyl as well.

Don't do matte white. I wrapped a ferrari in matte white. Looked sick but it got dirty in 10 minutes under the sun and nothing could get the brownish tree sap out of the 3m matte white vinyl. Actually since then we don't even sell matte white wrap.
I tried oxyclean, bleach, soapy water, diswasher stuff, alcohol, xylene, orange goo off, odorless nail polish.
Matte black on the other hand... we just finished an M5 today.

I'm not too familiar with either wrap or dip, but do either of them damage your clear coat/paint? Also I notice some of you say not to get certain colors as they would stain, what would proper care be for vinyl? Also how long can you keep vinyl on the car for? I know dip you can wash carefully and it will stay on. I have had my wheels done before. Thanks in advance.

The only vinyl that gets stained super easily and stays like that is the matte white. All these air release vinyls like the 3M 1080 series just came out last year. Nobody knows how long you can have it without fade and crack. I think 3M said it will be good for 1.5 year for vertical exposed surface. I have seen wraps that was still good when they were like 3 years old.
To me when someones mentioning dipping the car is like mentioning to sharpie the whole car to a pro car painter. They will laugh at your face. And I feel the same way as a pro wrap installer.
