Removal of rear bumper
#2
if its just the rear bumper...
open the hatch to find two screws...right where the taillights meet the bumper
then there are about 6 or so push style clips to undo underneath the car staring from one end to the other
from there its a matter of pulling the bumper to get it off the remaining clips. i believe at the top of the rear bumper/under the fender it hugs around...so just pull that over. and then there should be two big clamp like clips right where the taillights are.

To take out the tail lights:
1. Open the trunk.
2. On both sides, there is a cubby panel. Insert a screw driver to pry panels open.
3. Unclip the wiring harness from the tail light.
4. Remove (3) 10mm nuts from (3) studs protruding from tail light.
5. Push in tabs on small light blue clip and pull tail light out.
Thats all there is to it

I found an illustrated bumper removal guide here: https://remont-bampera.com/en/scion-tc
I hope it helps someone.
