I'm pretty sure the defroster wont effect the tint...practically all cars have it so it shouldnt be an issue (at least not a new one to the TC)

the factory stripes however....iMissLayups would you mind posting close up pictures of that area of the rear?

just got my car tinted today. 50% on all the sides and 15% on the back. i didnt want to go limo so 15% was the second darkest. i didnt want super dark just subtle since i want tint mainly to keep out heat. also i wanted consistency so i kept the rear and the front sides the same.

I got mine tinted 2 weeks ago. Do it, you'll never go back hehe. I have 5% in the rear and 75 in the front. I should have gone a bit darker in the front, but its hard because in California, the fronts aren't supposed to be tinted .

hm... I read somewhere that in CA the legal tint on the front window is 70%, thought not sure if its updated or not

so you could have not a little darker...not much but a little

regardless, I live in CA and I'm going darker, probably 20% or 30%....I just need to find the time

I live in California also. I have 5% all around. I just roll with the windows down most of the time and roll em up when I don't want anyone to see inside. It's hard to see at first but you get used to it after a while.

1. What type did you go with? (basic dye-based, metallic, ceramic, etc.)
-I went with a shop, not sure the brand they used but the shop is FX out in oshawa ontario, got a deal paid $180

2. How dark is your back window, and do you find it too dark at night when backing up?
5% can be hard if there is no other light, I like to pull into spots as my cars seem to only get hit when parked. Pulling in protects the from of the car as I park with a median in-front.

3. For those with metallic, do you find it is decreasing FM, cell and GPS signal?
N/A

4. Are you happy with who installed it? (did they handcut or use a computer for sizing?)
FX auto, love it all my family/friends use them.

5. Any issues with installing tint over factory striping on rear hatch window? (i.e. bubbling?)
Never. If there is they repair for free.

2-5% and yeah it's too dark at night? but you'll get use to it.
3-FM? nope...
4-yeah happy. computer sizing... it's lifetime warranty so it's fine with me.
5-no issues. yet. and yeah they'll fix it for free...

i'd say to night visibility.....30% and up is good...maybe even 20/25

If you want you front to darker, you should be moving in the opposite direction from 50% --->25% not from 50% --->75%. You're not referring to your front windshield are you? I have to chime in and say for your safety and everyone out on the road, don't do it.

Ah, then that makes sense. I wouldn't blame you for wanting to go to 50% on the front side windows.

Backing up at night can become a bit challenging which then I roll my windows down for more visibility.
I got the 3M stuff too. "Carbon XP" was the most expensive best they had which I got, 35% all around 55% on windshield.
