Default K&n filter worth it?straight pipe?

Im looking into getting a k&n filter and straight pipe. Im trying to go for the stock look, basically sleeper. Something that will give me a bit more. I know I would prob. Get like 1-3 hp. Anyone got any ideas to keep stock look but run a little faster?

If you replace your exhaust with a straight pipe, it will sound horrible.

Try a header instead, they greatly wake up the 2azfe.

K&N will make a noticeable difference, a CAI will do a bit more.

Nope and Nope.. if your gonna spend money save up and buy an intake! With a Kn Drop in its a he said she said situation and u might not gain anything and if u do its probably 1hp...At intakes are r&D and theres dyno sheets to prove u gain at least 4-6hp and it improves the sound of your car

exactly, just save up and buy an intake.

A K&N wont HURT, but it really won't do much if you're looking for a decent power gain.

I realize they are two different engines, I was just using my engine as a refrence for how they seem to react to mods.

I promise if you get an intake, you will fall in love with it. Completely worth it.

If you're worried about the look, you can spray the intake tubing with a crinkle black finish, it will look very "stockish".

It's too new right now, wait a while. I picked up a "knock off" cold air intake for my xb2 for $75 shipped to my door about 9 months ago and made a thread about it.

Still works great, no problems whatsoever.

Don't straight pipe it because it will sound obnoxious (NOT what you want if you are trying to be a "sleeper"). It also obviously won't look stock either since you won't have the horizontal muffler in the back.

Don't expect noticeable gains just from intake/exhaust...whatever your brand choice may be. You will just be setting yourself up for disappointment.

Intakes and exhausts will give you very mild improvements in throttle response, particularly in the top end. Also, you'll feel you have slightly more power at highway speeds. As far as city driving and low-end power...little to no improvement, and in some cases a slight loss.

a sleeper is a fast car that looks stock and slow. a tC without a turbo and straight pipe exhaust will be loud and slow and a huge embarrassment to the brand.

to give you an idea, i have some videos of my tC when it was supercharged with a weapon-header and exhaust and custom build 3 inch exhaust with a high flow cat, resonator and muffler. it was loud, we're talking 140 decibels at WOT. when it had a just a muffler, it was even louder.
