Default Stock Exhaust vs TRD Exhaust?

If I haven't given off the impression already, I don't know too much about cars. So i was wondering, what are the differences between the TRD Exhaust and the stock in terms of...

Performance?

Looks?

Sound?

I saw a lot of videos and read a lot of reviews about how the 2G makes a unique noise, but for some reviews the test models have a stock exhaust while others have the TRD and I was wondering which was which.

When I test drove the car, the dealer only had stock, and I completely forgot to look at the exhaust to see how a stock exhaust looks like, but the salesman said it was polished chrome after the fact, is that true?

Stock vs. Making you feel fast

Black vs. Stainless Steel

No sound vs. Noticeable rumble, but quiet at cruising.

The main difference between the two is the sound. TRD provides a deeper rumble giving u a "Its loud so it must be fast" feeling. Performance wise, hp gains are minimal because everything from the headers back is still restricting airflow.

The TRD Exhaust will give you 2-3 more HP, is a very nice looking polished unit, and it has a nice deep rumble sound to it. The stock exhaust is boring.

I'm sure Borla's will sound/perform similar to the TRD unit once it comes out. Borla = two thumbs up!

My descendant exhaust gave me a nice power increase from the stock exhaust.. definately noticeable and much more peppy and nice sounding!

Back in November of last year, I was at a dealer in Maryland that had both tCs in stock...one with TRD exhaust and one with OEM exhaust. I could not tell a differance in performance. I put the salesman to the wall and told him to produce the paperwork that shows the performane increase...he said he could not.

If there was a performance increase, any car company would be all over that as a sailes point! There is no HP increase with the TRD exhaust...just a noise increase. If noise is what you want Toyota/Scion will gladly releave you of $600 for it. I did't go for it...I'd gladly pay $600 for 5-HP though and enjoy the noise with it.
