TRD Quickshifter
#21
so anybody have pics of the trd quickshifter? it says it includes a TRD-branded shift ****, is it this one http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...&parts_id=3874 ?
also where is the installation manual?
thanks... im interested in getting this...
the twm performance looks nice but seriously is to complicated to install for me, i think the trd is easier and ok for the moment.

I don't think I have any photos...but its not snazzy or anything, its just a couple of machined aluminum brackets. Works like a charm though.
It will be available soon. It is not available right now if I'm correct.
But really, its trial and error. May work, may not.

Are you sure? I know you work there but I just got off the phone with my Scion dealership and they quoted me $215 CAD. Which I thought was ridiculous since I can get it off TRDsparks for $150 USD shipped. They even wanted $380 for the fog lights which I thought was way over priced considering how strong our dollar is right now.

We might have it now, I don't 100% know. If I were at work, I could tell you if its in stock or not, but the pricing will be showing for dealers who stumbled onto the part numbers (or if you provided them with it). But again, just because they can look it up, doesn't mean its in stock. This goes for TRDSparks as well...just because its showing doesn't mean they have any.

Yup, plus shipping. I got it from trdsparks.
Yup, I can agree with you on that its a great part. I'm just kinda mad it didn't come with a tube of grease haha. But thats not a big deal. I will make a stock comparison of the shifter and one with the trd quickshifter installed. Plus I watched your track video, and saw how easy it was to shift into gear. A lot better than the long throws from the stock shifter which is suited for dd.

I am going to install it sunday. I have to work ot on saturday. I am ordering a 2010 camry engine cover, and manifold/heat shield next week, and that completes for mods under the hood for now. Next is the rims, and an exhaust in June.

If this is as simple as it sounds, I'm so on it. The TWM SS has some nice features to it (no more plastic RL) but... this seems like it would have less wear on the syncros etc in the long term.

^ Installing a short shifter, no matter if it's a transmission installed adapter or a full replacement unit like ours, has absolutely NOTHING to do with wear on the synchros.
The thing with the TRD adapter is that it only has effect on the throw and nothing else. A solution like our 2011 tC short shifter will not only reduce the throw but also greatly enhance the driving experience with a much more precise and solid gear engagement, and relocated gear position for an optimal driving position!

Sort-of... the SS sets up a difference in how you drive it. The synchros need time to synchronize, ya know? Seems the TWM SS has a more aggressive method of changing the throw than the TRD, and from either one if you shift at the same speed or style you did with the OEM it's rougher on the synchros because the throw is shorter. I would have to sit and learn to change how I shift and add maybe an extra half second between shifts. I can see installing a SS and you speed shift the hell out of it, you might end up with synchro problems because the synchros just can't match the revolutions of the engine in time and I can't see heel/toe during a commute to work...

1stOne made a comparison of them both so he is the one to talk to. Theirs a thread somewhere, just don't feel like searching for it right now.
