Ha, I just got the quickshifter installed today. I had it done by the stealership since I financed it into the purchase. Either way, this has to be one of the best mods dollar-for-dollar. It shifts so much nicer.

HAR!

Though.... the instructions mention a "large" flathead screwdriver, it did help.

and I totally agree the TRD SS is an awesome mod. Tempted to do the same on my xB1 but it drives like a truck.

If it was Obnoxious Performance, Corey may have renamed it when his company closed.

I don't think it was Obnoxious Performance, but another member (mdiluxe) did a youtube DIY.

Well I finally had the chance to install it.

Installation was very easy once you take the air filter housing out and you'll see the two locations to install the extender and the quickshifter itself (see pics below). All it did was move the cable up and sideways by maybe 1 inch and that there made the BIG difference!

You'll notice it when you shift. It is for sure a shorter throw. At first I thought I was in neutral when it was actually in 1st gear. The stick shift bearly moves and took me few shifts to get aquainted. Overall... great mod, the short throw shifts is worth it.

Does anyone know how much Toyota would charge to install this part on my car? I dont care if I have to buy it from them or from trdsparks. I just would like to know how much I would be looking at.

I think it is rated at a 30min install through the dealer.

I just put mine back in with the TWM Shifter Bushings and it is amazing! Very tight and accurate! Missed it!

Does anyone have problems with the TRD quickshifter? Mine makes a loud clunking noise when shifting into second gear.

I hear it shifting to first from neutral, but I heard that before I installed the TRD QS. I don't hear anything shifting to 2nd from 1st.

Install should be included in the price of any part as per pure pricing. I've been told this by both the dealer I bought the car from in MD and the one I use for service in FL.

Install is not always included on the Scion.com pricing, The website has a disclaimer on it:

I just installed my quick shifter yesterday and it is amazing... especially since i didnt have to replace my shifter. as far as the clunking noise you are all concerned about, my car clunks going into 1st and 2nd before and after install. its just how our transmission sounds. have a buddy shift your car through the gears while you look under the hood to see what all takes place when shifting gears. it will be louder than you think.

Grab the largest flat head screw driver, put the point against the bent part of the U-clip, hold the handle with your left hand, and use your right hand to pull up. The first time you remove that U-clip it is a beast.
