Default TWM Performance Scion tC Short Shifter?

Hey guys!

I'm looking at short shifters for my 2011 Scion tC and I'm not 100% sure which one I want to get.

I came across a company named TWM Performance that seem to make some pretty good products.. I've heard a few good things about their short shifters and shift ***** for other applications.

Heres the link with the info:

http://www.twmperformance.com/shorts...rtshifters.htm

Has anyone else thought of picking one up?

Also it would be appreciated if some of you who have one installed on their car could chime in with some opinions on the TWM Performance short shifter?

They also have some nice weighted shift ***** with alot of unique finishes that I found cool to check out

Thanks for the help and I look forward to your wisdom!

I have TRD and I personally think its a better option because of the price and its about a 30 min install instead of hrs. Plus its all under the hood rather than taking apart the interior. Besides a TWM shift **** costs almost as much as the TRD SS... Just some food for thought

+1. I just wanted a bit of a faster throw. Not building a race car here.

Yep, TRD is a lot cheaper and will shorten your throws. Further, you can order anybody's cable bushings and get a much better shift feel vs. OEM. I think TWM's short-shift kit is probably slightly better for other reasons, but at a plainly unpalatable price point for many. Then they make a lot of publicity about allowing the first 3 people who use a certain code every month to get a 10% or 15% discount. Lots of press, a slightly lucky few (3 people), and all they save is 10/15%. They post this in every forum almost, on a monthly basis, and almost nobody actually benefits from it but they want everybody to drool over it. Just seems like an attention-whorish and rude way of doing business, whatever works for them, but it rubs me the wrong way and makes me consider companies that don't pull stunts like that.

Dang johnmk, tell us how you really feel? Lol. I did not know they did that. I have the TWM, and I do love it. It completly changes the feel of the car. All your gears are "moved" to a more tradition location, like 1;3;5 are moved to forward Vs. Stupid far forward. And 2;4;6 are moved to slightly rear Vs. Dead center. Neutral takes a new position at center Vs stock slightly forward. It makes the car feel 100% more sporty, whether your are making a race car or not, this is a mod anyone can appreciate.

Now time to give you the dirty: TWM's customer service is like the wind. One minute you want it to ease up a bit, the next you wish it would come back. Its like some days, they really want to talk to people, and some days they just want to be left alone!
2) the reverse lock on the TWM is solid aluminum. It feels great in your hand, and IF it is warm outside, it springs its self down like a **** starlet at a casting. IF it is cold outside, you will be doing all the down spring action the way you watch said **** starlet.....with your hand. The aluminum reverse lock on mine is so tight as it is,(no **** star reference here) when it is cold outside, the aluminum contracts, making the spring that is supposed to push the lock down useless. I can pull the reverse lock up, but it stays there unless I physically push it down. Once I got used to it, it is fine, but that first time, im running late for work and the car would not go into reverse, then once it did go and I backed out my driveway, I couldn't get into first! I was ____ed untill I realized the problem...after waiting 4 days for help, TWM said use more grease, but the tolerance between the shiftarm and the reverse lock is so tight, it simply pushes the grease out of the way. I also asked TWM 3 times in 3 different emails, what type of grease they recommended. I will let you know when I hear back, but it has been over 2 months so far, so don't hold your breath.

Overall I am very happy with the mod, and from what I hear from the other guys with it, I am the only one with a sticky reverse lock. Once I figured out the quirks of mine, its like second nature. If the aluminum is cold to the touch, I just automatically pull the lock up, and push it back down, no big deal.

Alright well I decided to pick up the TWM Performance short shifter and i don't know what you're talking about their CS... They were more than willing to help me out and were very informative. Nice guys and helpful.

I had no problem getting in contact with them either to get my UPS tracking number..

And indeed I did use one of their 15% discount codes.. are you complaining about getting a discount every month? I don't get why you're crying to be quite honest..

Waiting on my product anxiously!!

I made another thread asking about their bushing kits I was so impressed with them!

You can use the stock shift ****. If you get a new shift **** from TWM, they'll send you an adapter threading for your shifter.

I was using the stock shift **** for a couple months with the new short shifter before I installed the weighted one.

I was seriously contemplating getting a short shifter this morning, that is, until I saw the price. Even with a discount code these are way too expensive. I may look into the TRD short shifter instead.

I have pics in my build thread somewhere. I don't know exactly which pages they're on. But, the first set you come across will have the stock **** with the TWM Short Shifter. The last set you see with a different shift **** is the new weighted one. You can't really tell that there is a thread adapter.
