Default Access aswc question

Im in the middle of installing my new jvc head unit. The direction on the axxess website gives a picture of what the connector looks like but I don't see one that has 20 pins in the dash. I'm sure I'm over looking it. But we're is that connector?

It's a small connector with 20 fine wires on it. Perhaps yours might have just dropped down so you will have to dig around to find it.

It's there.

If I get time tonight after work I'll rip it open and take a pic of the wires

But this is the link to the manual specific to the tC2 that I used to install my ASWC:
http://contentdocs.installernet.com/...icle/10957.pdf

Edit: Noticed that you are installing a JVC deck. There is a special small section in the manual linked above for JVC units. Make sure to check that out.

Also make sure that when the ASWC flashes it is the right amount of flashes for your deck.

As per manual you should have seen the following flashes:
short, long, short, short, long, short, short
After 2 seconds it should flash 5 times of the same length to tell you that it detected a JVC deck.

Because the unit was somewhat setup you might have to refer to the section in the manual for "If the ASWC was installed before" to get it working again.

The picture would be SO helpful. The only long flashes I get is the 5th one on the first set and the 5th on the second set so It does recognize the jvc. Hmmmm.

Sorry man been too busy to get those pics for you.

I have a feeling you just choose the wrong wires from the 20-pin connector.

Pin 6, 7 and 8 are all that are needed. The link to the manual I posted above shows you how the pins are numbered if that helps.

Green/Orange ASWC wire connects to whatever wire is in Pin 7
Black/Green ASWC wire connect to whatever wire is in Pin 8.
Whatever wire is in Pin 6 also needs to connect to ground. I spliced into my harness black ground wire for this.
Black ASWC wire also needs to connect to ground separately from the above wire. I also did another splice to the harness for this.
DO NOT connect Pin 6 to the black ASWC wire
Red ASWC wire can be spliced to your harness though.

Not sure where else you could go wrong... I should be able to spare 10mins on Sunday and get those pics of the wires.

Lol. No problem
I'm not in a hurry, it's just bugging the shat out of me that I can't get this to work. I have installed several stereos and even fully rewired an 81 Honda accord( my fist car). You think I would be able to get this thing working. Lol
I think I'll mess around with it tomorrow. As soon as I see your pic of the wiring it will make since.

I'll be honest, I made a mistake installing mine as well and it drove me nuts for hours. When grabbing wires from the ASWC harness, I grabbed the orange wire with the green stripe, instead of the green wire with the orange stripe. Simple enough oversight that prevents the unit from working.

I'm sure it's something really stupid on my part. . I did the same thing (orang/green green/orange). And I switched them and still nothing.

Here's a pic of the wires:

Pin 6 : Grey
Pin 7 : Yellow
Pin 8 : Cyan (Light Blue)

Grey -> Ground
Yellow -> Green/Orange ASWC wire
Cyan -> Black/Green ASWC wire

You can make out the thicker wires on the right of the shot that are Green/Orange and Black/Green in color. Those are the ASWC wires I used.

Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so the grey wire you just grounded... I wonder if I could just use a self tapping screw and tap it into the metal bar behind the stereo.

Just splice into the black wire (ground) from your head unit or harness and that will be fine.

You're welcome!

Just a tip on these controls sometimes on kenwoods and jvc radios if it does not program properly put in a 12k ohm resistor inline between the radio swc wire and the aswc's brown (or brown/white i forget which color it is) and go through the programming setup. Once it programs remove the resistor and test.

But above all else always make sure the wires are correctly connected. Glad you got it working!

Thanks for the info. I'm glad I got it working too. The only problem now is I have to update the aswc because it keeps switching modes randomly.

I know its been a few months but if it is still having the issue any axxess dealer should have the cable, I know I have them at my shop. All best buy stores should have them.
