I have a Classic Silver '11 TC with almost 5k miles that makes a whining noise whenever I turn the steering wheel. Is this normal? It's most noticeable when the car is still and I steer the wheel.

USB works just fine with my Droid X. Have to hit the USB button once it's plugged in. Takes a few seconds and will display all the info an iPod does (Song, Artist, Album).

And, no, radio won't do anything unless you have something plugged in to the USB.

so is that usb port on the back of the HU a standard female usb input so you could just run a usb extension from that to the glovebox or is it something specific that you have to relocate the usb/aux inputs

No it's not a standard USB. Weird connections to USB.

thats not cool, i wonder if you could split it and have multiple usb devices for say your ipod chillin in the glove compartment or use your phone where it normally is, obviously not having them both connected at the same time

Seems like the USB port issue is a reoccuring theme here...
Mine didn't work when I first got the car either, so I took it back to the dealership to have them take a look. After a long run around with folks who were obviously not familiar with how to test it, they fixed it. I didn't get a straight answer, but it sounded like it wasn't connected properly to the HU.
The only other thing was the 2nd reverse light which I thought had just blow the bulb, but later found out it was missing. (Thanks forum!) Only 1 guy at the dealership even knew the tC2s where shipped that way. I took care of that with the 2nd light install. (Another thanks forum!)
With so many USB port issues popping up on this thread, I would recommend that Scion needs to check the person on the assembly line in charge of hooking up the cables to the HU, and make sure they're not asleep!

@obie Even though the connector to the HU is proprietary, I bet you could splice in a longer cable with a USB female end if you knew what wires went where.

@citystars14 The manaul for the Pioneer HU states that a USB HUB won't work.
