Default Coolant light question

2011 tC;

When I first drive it cold, a green light with a temp. sign and a C by it comes on. I figured that this means the engine is cold. This goes off after several minutes of driving (engine has warmed up). I thought the manual would back up my thinking, but it says this is a sign that I'm low on coolant.

So, you guys that have this car, are you seeing this light when you first start a cold engine, or is my brand new car low on coolant?

thanx

It is just saying that you don't need to drive hard while this light is on. The car needs a little warm up time. Its best to crank up the car and let it sit for a minute. If you do have to crank up and take off right away, don't go crazy and try to duplicate any race scenes from your favorite action movies...

That's what I thought. I was going to check the coolant, but I'm not by the car and figured I would ask anyway.

Check your manual. It says "Low coolant temperature." not "Low coolant."
