Default Home Made Auto IPHONE Dock

Ok I upgraded to 4s. One thing I hate is plugging in the phone / unpluging the phone each time I get in and out. So I decided to make an IPHONE Dock. This cost me zero since I had it

First I tooke my 3gs Otter Box Holder

Drilled a hole on bottom to run cable. You can cut the cable, drill a smaller hole and then splice the cable. It will look better.

Run the cable thru, Glue the connector to the base, I used Gorilla Glue and Wrapped the cable on the back to minimize cable all over the place

Side view, can be used on desk

Hit it with black Matte spray paint to clean things up

Mounted it with double side tape and velcro so I can use it as a desk base if I want. Hasnt fallen of yet as I drive.

Now I can slide my 4s in and out and not have to mess with the cables

Nice DIY.

I personally like throwing mine in the area by the 12V adapter and wish I had a 2 inch cable because the normal long one flaps around

Its the 2595 model with their HD eco route module which plugs into the ODB port and it lets read your data - similar to scan gauge

The mount is from garmin as well. Basically took the round self adhesive dash disk and placed it on the radio bezel. Then took the garmin mount:

and attached it to the disk. I bought a cheap cigarette lighter extender, kept the female end and wired it to the back of the existing cigarette lighter. The wiring runs down the back and I plugged it in to the cigarette lighter I added. Nice and clean with no wires showing

Yea if you have it straight on. I have one vent pointing left and the other pointing right. So I am not losing much air. Also the garmin can be setup for portrait mode so if blocks less of the vents.

It's overpriced but it works great, I can keep the iPhone in that area but still have enough slack to pull it out with it plugged in and check something on my phone.

You can find them at Best Buy too.
