Two things to be aware when buying a new 2012 tC. (Rattle Noises)
This is to everyone who wants to buy a tC and for people who are annoyed by the rattle noise this car has in various places.
1) Rattle noise when the car is going 50+mph
Description: The car has a vibration/rattle noise that comes from the upper part of the windshield and seem to come out where the interior lights are located. It gets worse when driving at the highway and the frequency is inconsistent.
Actual cause of the problem: The noise comes from the upper part of the rubber sealant of the windshield. Not the sunroof or anything.
Solution: Take it to the dealer and have a glass company re-seal that upper part and problem solved.

2) Clicking/Squeaking noise coming from the roof.
Description: Every time there is an irregularity on the road (speed bump, dip etc.) there is a squeaking or ticking noise coming from the roof (mine comes from the rear part of the car).
Actual cause of the problem: It is not caused by a misadjusted plastic panel or something BUT IS NOT. The noise comes from the chassis itself.
Solution: Take it to the dealer and have them rework the body.

3) Door Rattle coming from the door caused by the sound system
We all know about this one and the dealer won't do anything about it. Take a look at one of the DIYs. Because the dealer's stupid reason is that the car "may catch on fire" if they put something there because it gets too hot and whatever material "may combust" (At least that's what they told me).
To be honest if I would have know about these issues I wouldn't have purchased this car, seems like many people have these issues and they don't do anything about them because they let the dealer take over their rights. Don't let the dealers sell you a lemon, if the can't fix it get your documentation you may get your money back. The tC is a good car and all, but they really need to get more quality checks on these cars because it is not fair that you spend 22000 or more on a car to expect rattle noises on a brand new car. Take action and take your car to the dealer to get these issues fixed, if we all unite they might even do a recall, because is an issue that most tC's have and it is not right that you go to the dealer and they say "this is the first car we have that has this issue" that is crap. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

I get the "behind the some light" rattle. Also some creaking from the left rear when the suspension compresses. It's a cheap $20k car, so I really don't care that much. If it were a BMW or a Audi, maybe, but this is a budget car... Goes with the territory!

Hey first post.
My 2012 TC (alpine nav, manual) does not have *any* rattles or noises, its quiet as a crypt inside.
So, while I understand this is a problem that can be present on the 2nd gen, or can develop, so far at a few hundred miles in its very quiet.

Thanks for posting this information. I have a 2012 TC and the clicking/squeaking coming from the roof started at roughly 800 miles. I couldn't find any information the issue, so let it be. But now that I read that the underlining issue, I want to get it correct by the dealership. Does anyone have the video? The original link/video posting was taken offline.
