Default 2011 Scion tC: By AA Autoworks

AA Autoworks (Frankie Klepadlo, Karl Canta) has teamed up with James Lin, Founder and President of Team Hybrid, to compete in the 2010 Scion Tuner Challenge.
You may know James from winning back to back Scion Tuner Challenges in 2006 (Gold Scion xA and 2007 (Green Scion xD).

For this years build off, Scion has provided our shop with the new 2nd Gen 2011 Scion tC. Preparation for the tC began before the vehicle was even delivered to us, going over countless designs and over-going multiple changes. Finally, in August, came the grueling task of transforming this once stock car into the machine you see today. This car under went extensive body work consisting of a one off-wide body kit, custom carbon fiber doors, fenders, quarter panels, hood and trunk, all from the creative mind of AA’s Frank Flepadlo. DPE Machine custom 20-inch wheels due to the fact there is almost nothing available for the 2nd gen tC yet. After finishing the body work we moved onto the motor. With the 2011 Scion tC’s recently upgraded 180hp 2.5-liter inline-4 engine, we new we could make some serious power! We created our own turbo set up at AA Autoworks, grabbing a one-off Manifold and down pipe from STP Tuning. Gopspeed provided the all important T3 63mm turbo, intercooler and blow valve. We are hoping the car will make approx. 360 whp @ 10psi. The motor was also upgraded with a Mishimoto radiator and fan shroud as well as an NRG oil catch tank, NX intercooler spray and a custom oil cooler kit by KOM Automotive.

The next step was interior and sound system. It was time to get some sound in this monster. Sony stepped in and provided the 15” and 12”subwoofers, speakers, amps and TVs as well as the new Sony touch and seven inch touch screen double DIN that you see displayed in the massive system. The sound system was designed, built and fabricated by Al and Eds in Northridge CA . We wanted the system to flow just as well as the exterior so we added carbon fiber with touches of sued and painted fiberglass matched to the exterior color. The interior upholstery was done by Arty at AIC custom. He wrapped the entire interior from head to toe in black high end sued with accents of carbon fiber and color matched gold stitching.

This project took almost three and a half months to build from start to finish. This was three stressful months of no sleep, barley eating and not seeing our families on a regular basis but seeing this car come together makes it all worth it in the end.
Look out for this 2011 Scion tC making its debut at SEMA 2010 (Scion booth) and on tour with Scion/ Toyota Corporation and at Southern California car shows showing with AA Autoworks and Team Hybrid.

This build would have never happened without our amazing friends and sponsors we would like to thank everyone that helped out on this special build!!!

Nice list of mods. But overall a little flashy for my tastes. I think a better fitting wheel would help sell the look. Tucked on a widebody doesnt work very well. Also the way the intake on the turbo kit goes looks weird too. also if your going to move the battery why not to the rear?

I agree...performance and audio doesn't necessarily mix but I know this was built as a show car so I won't critique it too much. In honesty, I only like two things on and in this vehicle. I like the quarter panel vents and the steering wheel. BTW, the auto killed it for you guys.

I call shenanigans!!! I am now interested in 2 things:

1) Did AA Aw get their idea from the Lexus
2) The auto tranny is making 340 HP at 10 psi O_O ( 1st gen was 250 with +/- slipping)
