Default Install of OEM Remote Start on 2011 tC

I bought my Scion tC from Stevens Creek Scion in San Jose, CA. I ordered the TRD springs and remote start dealer installed options. The springs went in fine but these guys have not successfully been able to program the remote start module. I left it with them last week for a day and a half. They said they'd talk with Toyota so when I brought the car back in they could finish the programming. Well, I brought the car back and left it with them yesterday. Got a call last night saying they still have been unable to finish the install and want to keep it till Friday.

Anyone have any experience and/or knowledge about the OEM remote start feature on the 2011 tC?

Nope - new remotes, new car, and new OEM remote start kit.

Take it to a different dealership in your area. If those guys can't install a remote start I wouldn't trust them to do anything on my vehicle.

The service manager called me and they have successfully installed the remote start. Lesson learned is that the option is new to dealers and the first time installing this, for any dealership, will be a learning experience...the price we pay for Scion allowing dealer installed electronic options.

I had an aftermarket remote start installed on mine, in the dealership parking lot within the time span of 45 minutes. Now they can do that, but the Toyota trained technicians, using Toyota technology, took a week or better to do yours? Your service manager telling you that it was a learning experience frightens me and leads me to believe that he doesn't have any certified technicians there, or didn't want to / was unable to utilize them on your vehicle.

My dealership did the install in less than a day. In the thick of summer, remote start sure is a pleasure to have. When turning off the car, I make sure AC is on and leave the fan speed to high w/ sunroof open slightly. Right before leaving, I remote start the car, give it a few minutes, and when I'm ready to leave it's nice & cool.

Anyway my dealership had no problems at all.

Does anyone know how much it cost for just install? And the total cost from the dealer?
