License plate hole
Have you guys ever experience 4 license plate hole on the front bumper? Kind of stupid but yeah thats what the dealership did to my car.. I have two options 1st is they replace my whole bumper theyll order it have it painted which might not perfectly match the color of my car 2nd is theyll fill in the holes and have it painted as well.. What should i dooo???

The two holes is meant for the bracket ryt? Then on the bracket is where you mount the license plate.. Wat they did is theu didnt put the bracket and probly thouht thaytthose 2 holes are off and decided to drill another one for the license plate itself an its crooked like you can tell its way at the right side of the bumper. I mean its not even the license plate that theyre tryin to put its just thay stupid toyota blah blah city..

i would just fill it...thats probably what im going to do to mine...
thought i'm most likely not going to get it done at the dealership
(esp. if ur dealership drilled extra holes that were not need and ended up crooked anyways....?)

If they were stupid enough to drill two EXTRA holes for your plate, AND they're crooked I'd say make them put a new bumper on the car. I mean you just dropped 20G's on a brand new car, that's unacceptable IMO

they were saying that on the diagram given to them by scion, they were suppost to drill 4 holes.. one set is to hold the bracket and one is for the license plate that will screw all the way to the bumper "so there wont be any gap between the bracket and bumper"! does it matter if theres gap between the bracket and bumper?? hahahahahah

i know man i read it myself.. theres this note that says "do not drill on the dimples" can they not understand that????????? so now how am i ever gona take that bracket off if everytime i see 4 holes on my brand new car ____es me off!

i removed the front plate on my 05 and had the holes filled and painted but you could still kinda see where they were(shotty work maybe). if they are offering a whole new bumper, tell them to get it and have them blend the new paint if it doesnt match. they should be able to order a pre-painted one so it should match pretty well.

i was gona do that but then they said they have to paint it and i was afraid the paint wouldnt match and they said they cant get a pre painted one because toyota parts doesnt have one..

well if they cant get a prepainted one then ask if they put on a new bumper, if they can blend the paint into the hood and fenders so there will be a perfect match. i would probably just have the new bumper painted first and see how it looks so there is no unnecessary work done.

uhm correct me if i'm wrong...
but i dont understand how the dealership wouldn't be able to match the color 100% it is there own color after all? plus i thought dealerships even sell touchup paints?
(it is a toyota dealership right?)

kinda. bumpers are notorious for being a little bit off compared to the body. mostly depends on color, paint type, etc... mostly due to the fact that the body is sprayed over metal and the bumpers are some type of plastic or urethane and it makes the paint look a little bit darker. i saw this alot when i was working at Roush with the mustang bumpers. but im sure the new bumper in this case will match as it did from factory being brand new and all. and yeah, they sell touch up paint, but if you go in to pick some up, have your VIN or paint code handy to make it easier.
and so you know, im not a painter or body mechanic, just talking from personal experience.

No, the first issue is that Toyota does not sell a pre painted bumper. The next is that the batch of paint they are going to mix in order to paint the new bumper will not be EXACTLY the same as the batch mixed in Japan when it was originally painted. And lastly the car has sat in weather/snow/rain/sun/etc, so the color has already faded a little and even if they mix an exact batch, it still wont match.
Also, touch up paint never matches for the same reasons listed above...
and so everyone knows, I used to be a body mechanic and painter.
Edit: if anyone has a spoiler on thier tC, if you look really really closely, it doesnt match your body...
