Let us know how things turn out with Scion Corporate. Hopefully they can come up with a fix soon (or at least determine exactly where the tick is coming from).
Scion corporate will most likely not be able to do anything, so don't get your hopes up. They have very little power. What they *can* do is to document the issue in the hopes that someone down the line will decide it's worth fixing. As you can probably see, I have very little faith in them at this point.

My tC's roof also creaks and ticks but compared to some of the other issues I'm experiencing it's not even worth an afterthought.

Anyways, I want to come up with a list of which dealers the cars were taken to for this same problem.
In case it becomes helpful in the future.
I updated the original post about it.
This is not encouraging news. I guess it is going to be an uphill battle.

I actually took my car on today for the 5000 mile service as and told the service manager about it. He took a road test ride with me and told me if I could drop it off on monday they would look into it and fix it. I'll let you all know what they do, if they fix it....

My dealer told me it was "temperature related" and "normal." Completely useless.

I have driven others w/o the noise and it is not consider "normal". Looks like it will be a tough battle.

My car makes lots of "normal" Toyota noises. It's supposed to sound like a bucket of bolts because the build quality is comparable to that of Chinese drywall.

I picked my car up today. Well Thursday now... The service manager that rode with me is on vacation this week.

So the tech that worked on my car concluded that the roof brace is rubbing the headliner. He pulls the headliner down and sees marks on the inside out the headliner. He ended up putting foam padding between the liner and brace. The noise is noticeably lower however still there.

My car is going back next week when the service manager is back from vacation so they know exactly what is making the noise.
I drove a 2012 and it did not do it.....

Well I picked mine up yesterday after being at the dealership all day with the Toyota/Scion rep. They could not replicate the noise. The service manager told me he knows that there is a noise and there is a long paper trail with my car being in five times. I get in the car and drive home with my wife and it starts again. I called the dealer and now the car is going back today or Monday(trip 6)

I just want all of you to know I will fight this to the end. I will get our noise found or taken care of if it means leaving my car there for ever. Scion needs to address this either way. Fix it or buy the car back in extreme cases. the tick/pop noise is worse than water boarding to me during a drive no matter how loud I turn up the music.

Agree and behind you 100%. I will start the same with my dealer next week. I am sure there is strength in numbers.

Get him to take a ride with you so he can hear it. That is what I did.

I'm very happy with their service.
I'd prefer a rude mechanic that actually fixes the problem I came for..
