Default Phone Charger?

Hopefully it's not just my car that does this.
I have a Droid4 and I found out rather quickly the built in AUX and USB only really work for an iPod. After finding that our I found the USB cigarette lighter plug in I had in my last car thinking eh, more cords, but I need to charge my phone on the go a lot.

Well, that doesn't charge my phone either. My phone shows it's charging, but it never actually charges. If anything it feels like it pulls power from my phone. I have a 45 minute commute and by the time I get home, while my phone is on the charger it will lose 20%

Anyone have a solution?

Get a new phone battery? It sounds like your issue is with the phone. I have had both droid and iPhones, all charge from the USB and the cigarette outlet with adapter.

I'm in the same predicament as you. Nothing really charges the phone so I ended up just getting an external battery anker astro e5 and just charge with that in the car.

ya only my friend's iphone charges ok. maybe its a 2011 tc thing?
the astro e5 charges dam fast. In 45 minutes you could probably get a good 20-30%, I still have to use it more, but definitely a great investment.

Have you changed the settings on the phone for USB to charge only? Because if it is set to tethering then it won't charge as well. Also, if you plugged it into the cigarette lighter and it still does not charge then it definitely is not the car, it is your phone.

It makes no sense that my phone is the issue when it will charge everywhere else, including other cars. I've even tested it on other Toyota's and it works just fine.

If you plug your phone into the cigarette lighter and it still doesn't charge, but your cigarette lighter is fully functional, then its your phone.

Was thinking that too, but wasn't sure if he used the same charger in other cars or not.
