Scion.com has tC2 with valve cover stock?
So I was bored today and looking on the scion.com website.....the Build Your Scion has evolved a lot since when I did it back in late 2010...barely 360 and barely had images for any of the accessories. Anyways, for fun I selected the TRD Oil Cap option and thought "it will probably give me an notice saying something about not having the 3D image for that item" but they actually did and the view went to the engine bay....and to my surprise I saw this....
in case you didn't notice....that is the engine bay of a stock with a valve cover! they have it in their preview, wont dont they actually come with it?? keep in mind a toyota camry valve cover is $100+ by itself and it appears to cost nothing extra according to "build your scion"
I can imagine people printing this out if they ordered it online...then at the dealership be like....the website showed this...why is it missing??
so what's the deal?

Hey!! What the?! HEY!!! Dude, click that button, upper right side, no not that one, the one that says "Scion Chat" and ask them. Link them your imageshack link from this post, see if they have anything to say.
I still want a cover, but not shelling out $100+ for a boring black one (trying to rationalize the CF one for $200 though).

TFor: Hi, my name is TFor. How may I help you?
Justin P: Hi, my name is Justin...I currently own a 2011 tC and had a question about the valve cover
TFor: Sure, Justin, I would be happy to assist you.
TFor: What's your question?
Justin P: I was playing with the build a scion option and there is a cover in the rendered image...but the tC2 I bought does not have one
TFor: Allow me one moment please.
Justin P: Ok, I took a screen shot to show what I am talking about.

TFor: Thank you. '
Justin P: for comparison's sake, I just uploaded a photo of my actual engine bay as bought from the dealership

TFor: Thank you for your patience.
TFor: That part is an accessory that will be available for retail sale very soon.
Justin P: I see, is there any possible estimated release or price?
TFor: I apologize the price and release date isn't available at this time.
TFor: You can inquire within a month with our office for it's release or the parts department at an authorized Scion dealership.
TFor: Is there anything else I may assist you with today?
Justin P: Oh okay, thank you very much for answering my question. I am good for now, if I have anything else additional I will check with Scion Chat again or my local dealer.
TFor: Sounds great.
TFor: Thank you for contacting Scion.
Justin P: Thank you, bye
TFor: Congratulations on your new purchase.
TFor: Have a great day!
TFor has disconnected.
.....I just wanted to sound nice, but I smell major BS

I don't want to short his sale by posting the price, but if you hit eBay, and search "rav4 engine cover" you'll find the one by LKQ in Melbourne, Florida 32940. Just wish I knew someone near there who could do the free local pickup.

I know I have seen this before somewhere, and they had said that the rav4 cover fits as far as bolting on, but it was a little taller than the camry which may not clear the hood. I could be completly wrong so someone buy one and let us know............ : )

Just called Scion because I figured it had been a little while since I heard anything about my car and asked the guy about the engine cover too since my fiance just bought a 2011 in February and didn't get the cover. The guy on the phone couldn't tell me anything about the RS, but he did tell me to call the Customer Relations Manager at my local dealership to see about getting the engine cover since it's shown as being standard on the 2011 tC on Scion.com. Might be worth a phone call?

^^^Scion customer care told you this?? Oh jeez... I can see this going horribly awry... dealers wont have a part number, btw. so no need to call them, they wont have an answer for you, especially with the 2012 models not being released yet...

2011 tC Carbon Fiber Engine Cover
Hey everybody-
We are very sorry about the confusion on this engine cover for the tC.
There is going to be a carbon fiber engine cover for the 2011+ tC, offered through Optomize Scion (http://www.optomizescion.com/) and made by Descendant Racing (http://descendant-racing.com/)
Items on the Optomize website can be purchased at your local Scion dealership.
Below is a photo of this engine cover, along with the label from Descendant Racing.

Thank you for the input Scion_Cust_Svc, this was more a discussion on the OEM engine cover that is currently shown on the Camry and possibly on the RAV4 as well. We were just confused as to why our tCs don't get one, and why the "Build Your Scion" did get one!

Sorry about the confusion! To clarify, just like brochures, the images online are taken prior to the release of a vehicle and are subject to change without notice. The engine cover shown is actually from a Toyota model, as some of you have pointed out.
All Scion vehicles are mono spec, meaning they are only made one way. A decision was made prior to the release of the vehicle to offer the engine cover as an accessory, in an effort to keep the overall base price of the vehicle down.

I for one was refreshed to open the engine and not see plastic crap everywhere... There's a valve cover, but not a plastic shell over it.
You guys find some weird stuff to be irritated about... For an cheapo car that includes this much stuff, they can leave some superfluous stuff and I won't complain. When I get a major discount on a hotel room, I don't care if they don't leave a mint on the pillow!
