I used it on my wheels and trim on my toyota 4runner. Trust me it doesn't last more than a couple months.

minor update for those wondering about painting on top of plasti-dip. unfortunately I slightly curbed my rear-right wheel yesterday and from the looks of it, the paint/plasti-dip protected my wheel since the metal looks fine. but another thing I noticed was that instead of the paint chipping off, it looked more like it peeled off. it still seems to retain the rubbery texture and "peel-ability" even with the paint on top. just a small observation for others who are looking to do a temp wheel color using plasti-dip as a primer.

plasti-dip and paint has held up fine so far for the 2 months i've had it. I expected it to start peeling a bit where I curbed it, but for the past month even with the heat in atlanta, the plasti-dip hasn't peeled at all and hasn't shown much wear around the rest of the wheel besides small rock chips which obviously happen to any wheel.

Alright another update. Since the dealership curbed one of my wheels and replaced it, I have my painted wheel sitting in my living room (as mentioned in another thread), so I decided to see how difficult it would be to peel off the plasti-dip/paint. One issue I found was that the paint is harder than the plasti-dip's ability to hold itself together, so there is no nice 'peeling' effect but rather it comes off in very [very] small pieces. Given I obtain a plastic scraper tool that won't scratch the wheel, but get under the plasti dip, it should work pretty well. I also thought of possibly using a pressure washer, but I don't have access to one so not too sure about whether or not it'll work. Under the plasti-dip the wheel retains its oem stock clear/paint and there is no residue left over which shows that the plasti-dip serves its purpose as a temporary 'primer'
