'06 Xa paint
Does anyone know why the paint on my '06 Xa appears to scratch really easy? Has anyone else had a similiar problem? My car is Flint Mica which is a beautiful finish...when it's NOT SCRATCHED! I remember a 91 buick skylark which had a factory paint quality defect which resulted in my having the car repainted for free, TWICE.

My hood got hit by a rock so hard it took a chunk out of the metal. That one bothers me. I blame my wife. The paint was good (first 3,000) before my wife started driving the xA. And I blame her because she took a chunk out of the paint around the lock with the key. I know I am hard on my stuff but I was never that hard on my car.

The paint is pretty bad. I'm only at about 5800 miles and I have rockchips all over my hood. I was able to touch up quite a lot of them with some paint, but they just keep coming. It definitely has even worse paint than our hyundai that's 4 years old, which is pretty bad. But I don't have many scratches elsewhere that I wasn't able to get rid of with some different products.

The dealer explained, I have reason to think he's truthful, that white is the hardest and black is the softest. That the new mcia paints do not oxidize since they aren't metalflake anymore so get red if you really want it.
I chose the nice clean white. Reminds me of the old white Model A. Looks good.

doesn't matter what car you buy its a standard now from what i've heard using less paint. which yes chips and scratches more easily. it does however save on cost, and weight of the vehicle this further propells the gas mileage as well.

One of the guys that we do business with at work owns a paint shop and he's agreed to repaint my xA for $500. Thats just stock black sand pearl over again and a couple clearcoats. If I wanted it media blasted, primed, and repainted to polar white (the color that I really want, but I had no choice since I inherited my xA from my brother...) it would be a $2000 job. I've got all sorts of little scratches and chips on the hood from rocks, etc. Do you guys think that a better/new coat of better paint will reduce the chances that I will get chips? Also, what other colors could I do without having media blasting? Like any other darker silver or blue colors? Thanks for any help!
