PS: you can however look forward to a redesigned Tc next year prob.

The xA/iSt got a new name because they wanted to stimulate poor sales. Unfortunately, the "xD" still comes in 3rd place amongst its Scion brothers.
They should have just kept the name xA, the sales would be about the same. Or they could have called it the Scion iSt and brought more JDM appeal. I think changing the name to xD was pointless. Especially if the other Scions keep their names.

I go up to the Eastern Townships (Province of Quebec, Canada) skiing, and I was just up north last weekend. I did not take the Xa, due to space issues. Canada has had the Echo hatch in a 5 door while we got the 2 dr and 4 dr sedans. The Yaris is sold in Canada as a 3dr, 5dr and I did see a 4dr sedan. The Yaris 5dr is a cool looking car. I wish Toyota would just rebadge that and sell it as the Xa.

(responding to the Turbo/AWD post)
All of these said cars come with available AWD in Japan, and the xA does have a TRD Turbo upgrade. A few of these (I can't remember if it was the new Ist or the old xA/Echo, or both) come with available CVT's as well. The xD in Japan has available 1.5, 1.8, 1.5 awd, cvt, etc. etc.
We just don't get the cool stuff in the US
Speaking of, why did the xD jump up in weight so drastically? The new Yaris 2d and Sedan are within 14 lbs of each other, both lighter than the xA by at least 100lbs, and come with a stiffer, better chassis and wheelbase (which is why there won't be another xA - the Yaris replaced it). But the xD, on the same platform, comes in at a staggering 428lbs heavier, negating the benefits of the larger engine - it's hard to see how it's an xA replacement when the Yaris is significantly lighter and practically the same car save the engine.
