I just had my CKP (CRANKshaft position) sensor replaced about two weeks ago. The code was P0335. I thought it was the cause of my hard starting problems, but it was not. Every once in a while, I find that I need to let the engine crank, or depress the gas pedal to allow more air into the engine.

My check engine light has been on since i bought the car in December. Ive had mine in several times, once to modify the charcoal canister- fixed it for a week or so, now im on my way back, apparently they have a new part to replace it with (I was told the 2006 xa's have different charcoal canisters than the previous xa's, the new ones are getting moisture inside them, but its not a recall yet) oh well

update with my car it was the vvt-i acutuator which meant the tech had to pull the camshaft out to change it.

Mine came on after about 6 months. It was the morning after a heavy rain, nothing else unusual, and it still drove fine. Was planning to have it checked this weekend when, voila, the light went off.

My "maintance required" light just started going this week. It blinks at me for 10 seconds when I start the car then goes away. Is this the same thing as the check engine light, but with a different name? Is it perhaps a built in "don't forget to do your first oil change" light? (even though I just did an oil change myself 2 weeks ago)

Is there any good easy way to identify why the light is on other than going to a dealer? On my MR2 I'd jumper some diagnostic pins in the engine bay then the check engine light would blink out it's code, which I could look up to see what the problem was.

diggity bring yours in even though it shut off have it scanned under warranty and make sure they fix the problem.

GrantR the maint req light is just an oil change reminder light look in your manual or search on the forum to learn how to reset it. you can bring your car to autozone for a free obdII scan like i did. i brought it to the dealer since it was under warranty just to get there oppinon and have them fix it anyway. you can also purchase an obdII scanner but its kind of expensive.
