Are you talking about the OEM armrest? I have that one in our xB but I installed it myself. I also installed the Boomerang armrest in my xA. Both were very easy to do. I don't know what price you were quoted for installation, but if it's more than $5 I'd do it yourself.

I like the OEM Armrest. I had the dealer install it (actually, I think the Port installed it), but I had looked at the installation instructions, and it is very easy to do. If you want to save money, install it yourself. If you want to save time, have the dealer install it.

I'm glad I got it.

I'm lovin' the boomerang armrest in my manual xA. I got it off ebay for about $105 shipped I think. I did have to get used to changing gears a little differently, but it's no problem at all for me now.

I got mine installed at the dealership when I bought the car. I didnt really like it because it was so flimsy/loose. I thought it was broke or something so when I got my first oil change I was going to have them look at it. Well, I ended up installing some interior lighting so I had to take the armrest out and the center console out so I could get to some wires. What did I see? The dealer installed the armrest wrong! I could believe it. Not only was the big wire clip thing not connected to the seat mount on one side, it was on the wrong side of the center mount! I fixed it when I put everything back together and now I happy with it...

I love my Boomerang! I won it (and the xA door sill enhancments) for Bext xA at S3 2005.

I have a manual and have no trouble shifting... only thing I miss is the rear cup holder... would be nice for folks in the back seat. I thought Boomerang was going to have a add-one cup holder, but I haven't seen anything yet...

If it's strickly function that someone wants then they can get one of the cupholders here.
http://www.allscion.com/armrest.html
and bolt onto the boomerang armrest. Remember I'm strickly talking function and not looks. I wouldn't even consider this for mine.

That's exactly what I was looking for... and I don't think it's so terrible in the "up" position anyhow.

THANKS!

I picked up this one:

Works great, and stores a lot of crap.

Do you already have a copy of the install instructions cruzizme?

http://www.trdsparks.com/install/00016-79270inst.pdf

I haven't installed one of the OEM armrests, so I can't help ya out much more than the link above. Doesn't look too terribly difficult though.
