Can you get a Scion xA with Cruise Control?
I've seen some mention on the board here that people could not get an xA with cruise control. When I look at Scion.com, there is an option called "Speed Control" for $275. This is cruise control, right? Do they offer it, but it's really rare, or what? Or is it new for 2005?

When I got my '05 xA in December, they weren't offering cruise as a Scion option at all. People were getting either after-market units, or having their dealer install the Toyota Corolla unit for around $500! Maybe they've changed something now....I dunno. If you say you saw it on Scion.com then it must be available now.

I did some googling.. I found this

I didn't see it on Scion's site though. Maybe I am overlooking it.

I believe that cruise control is available as an option only in select parts of the U.S. My RS 1.0 had cruise installed as an option by Southeast Toyota Distributors (SET) at the port of entry. It is also listed on the SET addendum window sticker.

As far as a link goes, you have to go to the Build Your Own link from scion.com. It is listed as an option: Speed Control ($275). I don't think I can do a direct link because it is a flash page; you have to go through the build process.

This is not true unless it's still going by geographic area.
You start out with BUILD YOUR OWN by entering your ZIP CODE.
You put in a florida zip and you get cruise control options and packages. you put in east texas and get speed control
you put in NoVA or SoCAL and you get squat.

Cruise was an option with my dealer. I believe they just put on the same cruise kit as the echo gets. I got it installed and it is pretty nice. Maybe only certain dealers are offering it for some odd reason. Or mayne it is just an East Coast thing? I just know that all the dealers around here in NC has cruise as an option. Good luck to ya finding it. Ask your dealer about adding the echo cruise kit to it.

Cruise control came installed on my car when I bought it in Tampa, FL.
Recently I had a problem with it and brought it to the dealership in Anchorage, AK. They looked at me like I was crazy and said something to the effect of "Scions don't come with cruise control." Long story short, the one dealership refused to service my car because the problem was with an "aftermarket" part that their service department didn't install.

The other dealerships won't touch it if it's not theirs and Scion can't help you because it wasn't theirs either.

Gulf states region gets cruise and a bunch of other stuff as "Genuine Scion Accessories" the rest of us get the shaft. The Gulf States kit is the same one the rest of us have though (to my understanding).

I was at the dealer tonight and I noticed an xB had Speed Control as a "distributor-installed" (I think) option for $275. I had my son with me, a high school freshman who thinks this purchase will be the car he takes to college, and he informed me we're getting an xB. So maybe I need to post over there!
