What would be the best way to wire the cigarette lighter so that it always has power, rather than only when the ignition is on? I know that I could run it directly to the battery and then use an inline fuse, but I was wondering if there was an easier/cleaner way to do it. Thanks in advance!

 

first off why do you want to do this? 2nd all you have to do is tap on to some source of power thats always on. like you can tap onto the radio power if you really want to

 

The wife would like to have access to power without having the car on. If I tap into the always on power for the radio, what rating inline fuse should I use? 15 amps?

I got it in and it looks like it is working, but with the radio on, it doesn't seem to have enough power left to charge a cell phone, only maintain its power. With the radio off the charging works fine. Should I just wire it directly to the battery, or is there a better internal source for power?

 

how difficult was it to find the radio wire. I want to do the same thing altho perhaps I'd put in a spdt switch so the plug could be on all the time or only on with ignition.

 

I like to use the computer in the car and need a spot to plug in. I already have the converter for the lighter plug, but I'd also prefer not to have the car running while I Wijack.

Did we solve this issue yet? I don't want to wire to the radio as I already have the plug.
