Default CUSTOM DASH FINISHED thanx for the help

Thanx to some of the members on the forum for info that helped in accomplishing this part of the XA. After disassembly I smoothed out the texture of the dash with 180 grit sandpaper and then used high build primer surfacer to help fill the remaining texture. Then many hours of block sanding. The end result was well worth the effort. Now a little of the exterior paint theme has entered the interior. Air conditioning vents are Cyan to Purple Colorshift paint by PPG. It has a bit of a WOW factor since that seems to be the reaction of everyone who has seen it so far. Hope you like it. The owner sure does. She was stoked today when I brought it back to her. Thanx for looking. Here's a few pix.

That's my job. I own a custom paint shop (Steel Breeze Customs) here in South Florida. Good excuse to come down for some sunshine. LOL And thanx for the compliments.

Solid compliments. Thanx. You can always ship it. Make a BIIIIIG box. LOL I wish I could get the colorshift pearl on the black part to show up in pix. It turns from red to green to gold to bronze and so on. The color over the black is called Maple.

I wanted a smooth finish, so the reason for the initial sanding with 80 grit on a D/A sander and then 180 was merely so I didn't have to use as much "high build epoxy primer" because of cost and durability. I still needed about 5-7 coats of primer to have enough to block sand it to look this smooth. I have seen some dashboards locally that look like crap. Just not enough time in the prep stages. Then you have those that fibreglass their dashboards which is totally NOT cool. Fibreglass is only meant to be used on fibreglass. It ends up either cracking or seperating from the original dash. Besides the enormous amount of work in doing the fibreglass work. This one took like 4 days total including the paint work. So not all that bad for me. it really does look good in person. Things like this never look as good in pictures. The black part is amazing how many different colors it changes to in certain lighting. Thanx for the comments. Looks like the rest of the upholstery will be next. I am having my sewing machine timing set then I am going to start very soon. The owner is very anxious.
