As far as I can tell the only parts that have to be installed by the dealer are the side airbags, and the spoiler. Plus I'm going to get the upgraded stereo w/ iPOD hook-up for the integration in the c/c (see www.scion.com build an xA). If it does not actually function this way please tell me. ray: I am only getting the upgrade for the iPOD placement.

The iPod upgrade does function that way, however, for around the same $$ or a little bit more you can get an Alpine HU with their new FullSpeed connection for iPod- the iPod connects directly to the headunit and you can browse through the menus on the display, and it includes functions like page up and down as well as having a multiline display, which the factory upgrade does not.

I personally shelled out and bought a Kenwood 25th anniv. headunit with iPod adapter for $470 since i already am in possession of a Kenwood Sirius tuner, but until then I was seriously considering the Alpine CDA-9857 (FullSpeed with BioLite display, new for 2006, $349) or the one step down model (either the 9851 or 9853, i forget) which was $300.

If you're comfortable doing stereo installs, many scion owners have been really happy with their alpine setups and the integration is supposed to be very good. Plus you have a lot of room for expansion, for which you'd really need to consider an aftermarket HU anyway.

Up to you but just some food for thought on what else is out there for similar or better integration, and as an aside, I think the CDA-9857 looks really sharp installed in the xA.

Thanks for the input. I have the CDA-9851, which my wife-to-be might gain possesion of shortly after I get my xA. (I just learned today that I can order it as soon as we get our tax returns back) I may also part with my amp (dinky 400w) to get a bigger one or pair to power the twin 10's I hope to fit(almost) in the storage area. looks like the 9857 might work out for me a little better.

Thanks again to everyone that has been helpful. Champagne, Old man(atee), Crucial, Bassist, Boxman...everyone else this Oscar really belongs to you guys.

hey, we aim to please. anything else you need to know, drop me a line. I just purchased and asked all the same questions you're coming up with.

BTW, tax returns make my year. It's so nice of the government to give me back money I spent all that time making.

'04/'05 you can do that but in '06 they changed it. The spoiler now has the third brake light in it. So if I add the spoiler, I'd have two 3rd brake lights. IMO that looks rice.

the brushed dash appliques are grey and will cover all the silver dash and doortrim pieces, I have it sitting in the back of my car, just waiting for a day when I have to time to install, wish it had the pieces for the steering wheel.

I'll probably get the dash app. from www.scionsport.com, same with the floormats, unless anyone has a better idea.

Look into www.scionpartspeople.com . Much cheaper than scionsport.

That spoiler you linked isn't painted so you'd have to paint it yourself. When you get the spoiler from the dealer I'm pretty sure they take off the normal 3rd brake light from the interior so you don't have to worry about it looking rice.

Thanks for the suggestion. There's an '06 xA at my dads house, so I know that they take off the other third brake light and leave the one on the spoiler. But if I get the spoiler and put it on myself, it just seems like a lot of trouble to take off the old brake light, wire the new one, drill the holes. too much trouble for me. And I can't just get an older ('04-'05) spoiler because I am getting a Flint Mica.

Well, I'm on my to do my test drive(s). A few errands to run first, one might bring me near a 3rd scion dealer. I might take as many as 3 test drives today. I'll come back with my compleatly unbiassed opinion.

Good luck on that... more power = more gas....you might be walking a fine line with your 27mpg low limit.

Also, Performance is not all straight line, cornering for intsance plays a big part. So lowering a car (not slamming it) on stiffer springs will add to performance in corners, and, at least a little, in acceleration and braking. All for the same reasons, less body roll/ movement.
