Dealer parts on backorder? Bad buying experience
#24
Question: Do you know if this applies for any other scions? because I have been waiting for my tC to come in for about 2 months and i ordered a bunch of options from the dealer do you think that is why my car isn't coming in as quickly as i thought it would?

I'd say no, because the options are installed there at the stealership.
You really only order a color/transmission combo, and everything else is pieced together at the dealer, outside of bodykits and such I believe.

The dealership will try to have as much put on at port as possible. It's easier and, quite frankly the sales dept benefits from it in the form of gross profit, not that that's a bad thing, especially if the end result is you pay the same and you don't have to come back to the dealership to have the parts put on outside the controls of the port (the further away from headquarters you get, the less standardization you get....this is true in any industry). The only question is who gets the profit, parts/service or sales.

Yup.
The original 'plan' that Scion had when they first introduced these cars was to have a limited number of 'demo' cars at the dealerships, and for the dealers to order up the vehicles as customers ordered them with accessories/options installed at the ports. It was expected that 'order placed to car delivered' would be under about a week (longer the farther the dealership was from the port). Didn't work out that way.
Dealers these days generally get in 'plain vanilla' Scions and add the options in their local shop when the car is sold. This makes the vehicles quicker to deliver, but does allow for a LOT of variability in installation quality.
