Drywall on roof -- bad idea?
I'm wondering whether loading things like small quantities of drywall (4x or a mattress on the roof of an xA is a bad idea or a terrible idea. If it's just a bad idea, then that's good enough for me, since the distance to carry them are very short, slow city streets.
I'm guessing that with the Yakima rack (or the like) it's doable, but would be a terrible idea to just strap it directly to the roof (buckling the roof and whatnot). Also, is loading oversized things on the roof illegal?
Maybe these are stupid questions but I can't seem to find any info on it here or elsewhere...

I think we have a consensus -- I guess I was a little too hopeful to think that getting full sheets of drywall on the roof would work I think the fact that I managed to get 8' wood furring strips in the xA and actually close the hatch all the way got me a bit optimistic (this required putting the passenger seat down as well as the rear seats).
It turns out the ex-contractor stepfather-in-law will be in town with his van to help us clueless idiots with the remodeling, so we'll be ok after all!
Thanks for the advice guys
