Default engine coolant problem

Does anyone have any problems with running low on antifreeze? I checked mine today, and it has been a while since I checked but it was so low it didnt even register in my bottle until I allowed the engine to warm up and it was still really low. I hit a deer in October and they replaced my radiator with a new one. Maybe the shop did not fill it properly and I didnt check it after that. I looked and see no leaks, I am not sure. Any ideas? I am going to fill it up and keep an eye on it. I am just glad it has been cold here. Thanks

you can have your cooling system pressure tested to check for leaks, but chances are that when they changed your coolant, they didn't put enough in because what they are supposed to do is fill up the overflow tank, and then run the engine until the thermostat opens up to circulate coolant, causing the coolant level in the tank to go down, at which point they can top off the cooling system. this happened to me once when i got my radiator flushed. i was checking under the hood a week later and saw the tank was empty, and wondered if i had a leak or they didn't put enough in.

Yeah, what he said. Plus the fluid does evaporate. If your windows fog with the heat on, you got an internal heater core leak.

Thanks again but no heater core problem no fog on the inside and no antifreeze smell. I think it was just the shop didnt put enough in because it seems that it would not evaporate that much since October. But oh well. Thanks again.

Every car I've ever had has the windows fog up with the heat on....and only on my side.
I could have 3 passengers in the car and only my driver window and my side of the front windshield will fog.

Am I just that hot?

Also to bryandrry: At least you caught your low levels before me. I didn't notice my intake rubbed a hole in my overflow tank for who knows how long. I never thought to check that tank when I did my oil changes.
