Getting An XA!!! have some questions
Hey guys, I finally landed another job so i will be able to afford an xa on a 6 year plan! I plan on getting the TRD exhaust and the springs(They look like a great drop for my roads) and i was thinking about buying the short shifter. I was wondering if any of you could enlighten me on how good these parts are. I will go aftermarket if I absolutly have too, but i would rather just put it on with the plan. Also, do any of you know where I can get a rim and tire deal for cheap? I heard the 15's offered from the dealer are crap.

I agree completely on the rims, go with something aftermarket, it will save you some green, plus get you a more unique looking ride. As for the muffler and springs, buy thos seperately and install them yourself and save yourself a little more green. If you arent mechanically inclined, join a local scion club, and think about having an install day party.

But same quality for less $$$ to me means better.
No, TRD is quality stuff, it has to be to get the name, to be sure...but unless I was wanting to roll it into my monthly payment from the get go( and I did some of that myself), I'd look to the aftermarket...

I just got my 06 xa with the TRD muffler (louder than I thought), anyway my bank would not incorporate the muffler into the loan so I just paid for it outright. I would only use TRD performance parts installed by the dealer, maybe a little more money up front, but if there is a problem (which there always is) you have them to blame and to fix it.

I am running the K&N CAI and don't forsee any problems (knock wood)...I think as long as you keep it simple, you shouldn't run into any big problems....
So, the TRD muffler is louder than you expected??

The first mod I did to my xA was the TRD Exhaust, in fact I put it on after owning the car for 7 days. It is a good buy for TRD quality and it sounds really nice as well.
I went with aftermarket 15" rims for my xA. I bought a set of four Konigs that came in at a little over $400.00. They are awesome wheels, superlight at only about 9lbs each and extremely strong.

Quoted from someone else:
I would personally go aftermarket. I dealt with the dealership on several occassions to get accessories. I have been disappointed with the dealership and the products that are offered.
Aftermarket should not void your warranty. If things are done correctly (good product, reliable shop), then everything should be fine... period! I don't know anyone who went with a good aftermarket exhaust system and had it blow up on them. And aftermarket products are usually cheaper, better in quality, have warranties on them, and give you uniqueness!

It is also not legal for the dealer to void the warranty if an aftermarket product is chosen over it's factory equivalent.
As an example, a dealer may not legally decline a warranty claim for a faulty transmission because an aftermarket bedliner or rear wing was installed on the vehicle. Further, the dealer can not claim that the use of the factory equivalent is mandatory.
Aftermarket products give consumers freedom of choice. With most aftermarket products, you do not sacrifice quality to get that choice. There is no substitute for good consumer research, but dealers can not restrain consumer choice based on this argument."

I have the trd muffler, trd springs and trd shocks.I even have a trd air filter.
They are all great quality.THe TRD muffler is a little louder that i expected. But thats compaired to a almost zero noise stock exhaust. But its still quiet enough my wife didnt notice it on the car.Plus after a few hundred miles its starting to get a nice mellow sound and is almost quiet on the highway at speed.
Id buy all the stuff after you got the car.Its cheaper to buy them as you have the money vs rolling them in and paying interest on the parts with your car payment.
Even though i work for a dealer ive gotten half of my parts cheaper buy shopping around .Hell i won my trd springs on ebay for 70.00 + shipping from a toyota dealership that had a overstock .
I didnt install all trd because of the "dealership" issues(hell im the one doing all the work on my car-so why would i care).I know the TRD stuff is designed with the specific vehicle in mind..
