Exclamation Help with OBD Code

The check engine light came up a few days ago; at first i ignored it and it went away, its been around 4 days and it has not come back. Today i connect my reader and code the code P0012.

Now i know what it means and all; http://www.obd-codes.com/p0012

But my question is what do i have to do to solve this issue? Does anyone know or they ever had this problem with the Scion XA before?

Any info will help.

Thanks,
Frank

i'd say it might need a new cam position sensor/solenoid, how is it idling? i had this code before along with several others like P0013 and i had to replace the camshaft position sensor. its right beside your alternator, check to see that its plugged in,or if its leaking any oil, also follow the wires and see if there damaged at all, maybe take it out and look at it. its only held in by one bolt, easy to remove just have to take off the alternator bracket first to get to it.

good luck

Its a XA idle you can say; it vibrates a bit but it always has. I really can't tell the difference car is running fine. Wires and all are good and never been damaged. Its weird.

haha yea, its not the smoothest idle.
well the problem seems located to this part i just dont know were to go from here...
is the check engine light on right now? i really think its that part, cuz other than the CEL and random(but not constant) rough idle you cant tell the parts broken, but as soon as i put in the new part the idling came smooth and the light turned itself off. your call, the parts pretty cheap.

its no problem!
from what i heard tho its not a sensor, it just adjusts the position of the cams to advance them or retard them. i miss typed and miss defined it in my first post, its not a sensor.
